Devaluation Axis ACE Dead? GPay Removed Credit Card Option for electricity Bill Payment - Discussion

TF Buzz
Hi guys,

GPay recently started charging a convenience fee for paying electricity bills using the Axis ACE card. This was one of the best cards for bill payments due to its 5% cashback. However, when I tried paying my bill today, I realized that the option to select my existing linked card was missing.

Is it gone for everyone else here? Is this the last nail in the coffin :/

There's literally no point in keeping this card except for 1.5% offline spends.

Reply received from Axis support in which they claim that issue has been raised with GPay team. Axis customer support agent categorically denied removal of Ace credit card for payment of utility bills (incuding electricity). Told me to contact Gpay support, whom I already contacted, and they told me to connect Axis Bank for this issue! Lol... Passing the buck!! More whom to believe?

They deliberately removed Axis Ace for electricity bill because Electricity bill is the highest utility bill for most of the Indian houses( at least for me).
They know we can't reach their 500 cashback limit by recharging phone/lpg cylinder/broadband bill.

After adding 1% convenience fee, the cashback was reduced to 4%.
And now, electricity bill is removed.

One more point, I have two BSNL SIMs in my family, I was never able to recharge it with Ace . BSNL recharge doesn't work with Ace, Electricity bill will never comeback I guess.
It's time to get rid of the ridiculous card 😡

Good news- possible re-enablement of Axis Ace credit card to pay Electricity bill on GPay by 13 March EOD.

In a follow-up mail to Axis support, I got the attached reply who told that it's a temporary issue and would be resolved soon. Let's wait and 🥂
PS: In view of recent restrictions and cappings, I requested for Ace LTF conversion but denied... :upside-down-face:
