Axis Bank Abruptly Stops Issuing Airtel Credit Cards: A Bizarre Experience

I recently considered upgrading my Axis Bank Indian Oil card to an Airtel card. I contacted customer care, and they informed me that the upgrade process wasn't possible through their channel. Instead, they advised me to email the bank to initiate the upgrade.

I sent an email to the Nodal Officer on January 5th, requesting the upgrade. However, the Nodal Officer rejected my request the very next day, on January 6th. I immediately escalated the matter to the Principal Nodal Officer (PNO), reiterating my request.

Today, I finally received a response from the PNO, stating, "We have stopped issuing Airtel cards further." I'm shocked and confused. Has Axis Bank indeed discontinued issuing Airtel cards? Has anyone recently applied for or received an Airtel card from Axis Bank?

The bank's customer care and Nodal Desk seem to be providing conflicting information. The PNO's statement has left me wondering if this is a legitimate decision or just a convenient excuse. Does this matter warrant a complaint to the RBI?

Wait for a while. if someone successfully able to acquire a new Axis Airtel Card, then RBI Ombudsman gonna mint you some good help.

Haha, here’s a funny story. I got a message from Axis, and guess what? They approved my Airtel card! I’m NTB to Axis, by the way. I applied for it, but they rejected me and just disappeared without a trace. It was so frustrating! But then, after a few days, I got the same message from Airtel. I clicked on the link, applied in November, and voila! They approved me and delivered the card in just a week. Talk about a turnaround!

Afaik Axis card upgrades are possible in same reward structure like cashback 2 cashback, edge rewards to edge rewards. I think that's why they are not upgrading.

What a coincidence!!!
I already have 3 cards .Just today evening i raised a request through LIVE CHAT to flip my card from INDIANOIL LTF to AIRTEL.
They asked me to apply through AIRTEL app only and denied flip/swap
I have asked them to CLOSE my Indianoil card. They did it immediately and the CARD just disappeared😛 from the app as informed by them to stop further transactions

Should i retain this INDIANOIL LTF(any gains on holding it) or let it GO?

It can be anything, not Axis just Toxis Bank
After giving such a low limit, bank's attitude is next level🤣

It is possible that they are not issuing the card, but ppl can obtain it from the Artel Thx app or, for Airtel customers, may be?

If you’ve LTF, consider keeping it. 1% fuel surcharge is waived & 4% value back is given on fuel (₹400 to ₹4000), making it a decent fuel card.

It's already gone, they do card cancellation immediately on Call. It's irreversible process. You will get NOC soon from them.

Axis always miscalculates cashback and I'm tired of mailing them every month. Closed it this month, sent an email got call and was closed in a day, thank goodness, no more axis.

I too got this card on 1 Jan and delivered on 5 Jan. Applied through Axis app.
