Axis Bank rejected application for Neo card without even a KYC or Income Proof!

Yesterday, I applied for the Axis Neo LTF credit card, and today in the morning, I got an SMS that my application is REJECTED — in less than 24 hours!

They didn't even do a Video KYC or ask me to upload my income proof!

Here's a brief information about me:
- I don't have any existing relationship with Axis Bank. Never applied for their cards.
- Self-Employed (Freelance Software Developer) working offshore, so I work from home and don't have any office address.
- I write my business name as my own name.
- CIBIL score is 751. Until last month, it was 759, but it got reduced after I got my Amazon Pay and Tata Neu Infinity HDFC cards last month. I don't know why.
- My CIBIL has just 2 enquiries, one for this month, another one from last month.
- Credit history is of 4 years with no defaults or late payments.

Apparently, Axis Bank doesn't want first-time customers to have LTF cards, because I've read several comments on X from people who applied for the Axis Neo card, and they all got rejected without even a KYC or option to upload income proof or any other sort of verification!

I wouldn't have been so annoyed for the rejection if they had at least rejected it after KYC and income proof verification. But what's the logic behind rejecting it without even a KYC or income verification?

Not entirely true. My first cc is from Axis and it is LTF and I had no other relationship with them.

I can understand your frustration but Axis works in mysterious ways as @Das.N rightly pointed out. Wait for the cooldown period to finish and apply again. In the meantime try to keep new cards applications under control.

Try apply for high variety cards.. that have higher chance of approval

I too had similar story for myzone last year. But finally this February myzone got approved after 2 decline. Also applied for neo card for Zomato offer and it got approved few days back. I guess it easy to get axis cards after getting first card from axis.
From what I've come across in this forum, people are getting rejected even for their second card despite having a good credit score, credit history, and portfolio.

I'm pretty sure the credit underwriter uses a coin to approve or reject the applications. Head aaya toh approve, tail aaya toh reject.

Axis ka karam hai.
Rejection abhi kam hai..
5-6 application ke baad samajh aayega.

I guess they're approving LTF applications on a lottery basis 😂.
P.s I won (my zone LTF received)

Few days ago I applied for Axis Neo LTF. I already have Flipkart axis which I am soon going to close because annual fee waiver spending limit was raised. So I went to axis website, entered mobile, OTP etc and I was offered Neo LTF. Application number was generated.

Next day got a call from their regional office and they were asking for my convinient time for KYC documents pickup. She said only adhar and pan photocopy and no income proof required. Several hours passed but nobody came. I called her and said that the executive didn't come to pick up documents. She said "sir, your KYC is already complete in August, you didn't disclose this". I told her I didn't apply for any axis card in August, how come my KYC is complete? She said in my system it is showing KYC complete.
