Devaluation BOB Card Introduces Spend Requirement for Free Domestic Airport Lounge Access

It’s BOB Card’s time now!
Effective from January 1, 2025, you’ll need to spend a specific amount using your BOB card to qualify for free lounge access at domestic airports in India.



I’d say BOB has kept the spending requirement very reasonable. Unlike other card issuers, like ICICI Bank, which require you to spend 1 lakh to get free lounge access, BOB’s requirement is well within reach.

I think this is not right way of addressing users. Banks are providing cards to eligible people and free lounge access is a feature just like other feature like rewards, EMI facility, etc. How will you react if even after this lounges are crowded?

That is what will happen, instead of increasing lounge size (and thus generating more employment oppurtanity ) they are introducing baseless rule which will certainly make these card less attractive which had lounge access as the only good feature , there rewards rate is sit tier already for all of there cards (yes bank , ICICI, etc )

people will then go for cashaback card (SBI , HSBC ) as they have better rewards rate directly with no redemption fees

make it 40 crore and only ultrarich people will be able to access lounges , problem solved

banks can do just to create more dealuation, and its not only limited to airport lounges wallet reward point redemtion all making credit card a lacklustre things even for paid cards .seems credit card got finally indianised as other global products

40k per 3 months is too high? Why should a bank give you a card of you aren't willing to use it and then also pay for your lounge access?

They're still reasonable if you compare with someone like IDFC

Even the premium cards are not spared. Lounge access and rewards on wallet load were the only two good features of BoB Eterna now I don’t see any reason to get this card.

No ,but add on card holders get unlimited domestic lounge access on Eterna

No as of now just spend based criteria added for lounge access and spend requirement is more for premium cards

I was heavily thinking about taking a BOB card yesterday. searched a lot about Premier v/s Eterna.
While going through bank website, I saw this spend criteria banner flashing.
Still thinking whether to take an LTF BOB card for instant discounts.
Many sites/apps give better discounts on BOB cards. @Yugi

Go with BOB Premier LTF.
I applied one month back. No response.
Raised compliant in RBI Ombudsman.
After two days card is approved now.

Only delay was videoKYC.

They have very poor IT infrastructure.

BOB asked me to cancel my application and apply freshly.

Because there is problem with videoKYC.

I denied and raised RBI compliant.

Immediately, they arranged videoKYC and next day Physical verification, next day card is approved.

Power of RBI Ombudsman. 🤣

Checking the list of eligible lounges for Bob cards in the document made me realise that new lounge opened at bagdogra airport, Siliguri was also in the list. I was happy and i was planning to use Bob hpcl too access it today, but they checked and told this card is not accepted. I saw the banner where list of banks were listed and indusind was one of them. So I tried my tiger card and it worked.
If they mentioned the take off bar and lounge is one of the lounges eligible to access from Bob cards then why was it not accepted?.
Is it possible that, w.e.f. 1 Jan 25 this lounge will be applicable?
