Can a bank accuse me of blackmail and use such language in an official email?

Maybe he is just afraid if the bank officials get hold of this thread and might use it later. Since it is ongoing case, maybe we can wait till it gets resolved and then get the info which would be helpful to others

For now, this is very unprofessional from their side and I think any inputs from us would help first solve the problem and then make sure to avoid this bank for future

OP, I think as others said, you have already raised complaint with BO and RBI, so please do wait and keep us posted. Also hope you have taken evidence from any CC TV cameras near your residence for your peruse.

Hope it gets resolved soon

There is no reason to be afraid. Infact when such things happen, you should come out boldy and openly. Your objective should be to make it viral and gain people on your side.
(Infact put the name of the BM and his contact number here, and then watch how the TF community members grill him. People are experts here).

A lot of people would put it on 'X'. But may not help you in this case, as its lesser known and govt linked institution.

Arre chodo guys, Bacche ki jaan loge kya. 2 message post karne mein 1.5 saal laga diya inhone. Av itna stress doge toh wo sayad thread hi na delete karde.

@dpkdz Don't worry. Code language mein hi bata doh. Sabko tasalli ho jayega. Like first alphabet, how many vowels, headquarter, etc etc.

Thing is I don't want to make it viral. If I do so they may accuse me of defamation on top of the already existing blackmail allegations 😭.

That's the thing. I've recently filed a complaint against HDFC bank regarding certain issues with Swiggy Credit card but BO closed the case on the basis of HDFC's reply that there's no issues with the card even though I've attached relevent documents that proved otherwise.

Can a bank accuse me....

Why only a bank, any body, anybody, any firm, any govt office and practically speaking ANYONE CAN ACCUSE ANYONE.

Dont think that it's the end of the world. It's a simple accusation - which when contested legally, can go n on n on n on.... and accusations can br many folded n multi layered.

If you were truthful in your original post, it will be extremely difficult for the bank to prove that you were intentionally trying to defame them. There's a difference between sharing a personal experience and deliberately damaging the bank's reputation. In your case, it shouldn't be an issue.

Thank you. But has any bank ever filed a lawsuit against its customer in Indian context? That is what I am curious about.

But as I have already filed a complaint with Banking Ombudsman, I don't think the branch people will have the guts to do anything as I've mentioned about their false accusation and intimidation attempts in my complaint.

If the BM is in control of the bank systems and follows the procedure, he would never take any step. He is not authorized to.
But it is seen that he has already sent an email to you in his personal capacity, so he may do more harm to the institution.
More than the bank, the person seems to be at fault.
