Can a bank accuse me of blackmail and use such language in an official email?

If you were truthful in your original post, it will be extremely difficult for the bank to prove that you were intentionally trying to defame them. There's a difference between sharing a personal experience and deliberately damaging the bank's reputation. In your case, it shouldn't be an issue.
I've been truthful the whole time. However I still don't want to disclose the bank name till the case is closed. Furthermore the Bank's name is the least important thing here as it's the branch people that did this.

Even for private banks these things are there as you all are probably aware of that video conference of HDFC bank that went viral.

And my case is not one of a kind as even SBI has previously enrollment customers into government schemes without consent.

Therefore I request you all to kindly not flood the thread just by asking the bank's name or other personal questions.

Thank You.

Thousands of cases....
Yours is NOT the first.
Nor, it's going to end with your case.

When you have DECIDED to fight, fight with all your might - if you are right.

Ismae darr nae ki kya baath hai ?

Galti kara... tho... Saalon kaa chaddi utaar do... Legally speaking.
I'm just a student and hence don't want to get too involved in these legal battles due to financial and other constraints. Banking Ombudsman is my only hope here and I've provided all relevent documents in my complaint.

The bank’s fault-
1. Unauthorised enrollment (unless bank has documents to prove otherwise)
2. Not providing the sought documents
3. Sending four representatives
4. Misrepresenting my compensation request as blackmailing
5. Unprofessional email
6. Asking me withdraw my complaint in their email
7. Intimidating with legal proceedings in their email

I believe I do have a strong case but I just don't want to go the legal route as of now.

Im
union bank charged same some insurance premium, i complaint to their cgo via email, they replied within 4 days and charges got reversed within 5 working days.
Your case was simple as they reversed the charges. In my case my account is already closed but the important thing is that they are claiming that I gave my consent for the scheme but failed to provide the copy of my consent. Then they sent 4 representatives for nothing. Then the branch head gave a very unprofessional email via his official email ID. These things made my case complex but also in my advantage as the bank is at fault here on various grounds.

Instead of getting involved in these unwanted things - at this stage of your student life - FOCUS on your studies.

Your methodical, systematic n perseverance.... are those qualities which you must apply in your STUDIES.

Not, in initiating and getting bogged down in such legal issues.

Focus on studies n your spot-less career which lies ahead. Is the compensation too attractive for you to spend so much time in these unproductive n avoidable issues.

What if the other party (parties) produce some fabricated n bogus dox and file a police case on you ? Once a police case is filed, your studies n future career is gone down the drain.

Talk to your parents n take their advice. TF is not the prace for you to get guidance - considering your age n student status.

Talk to your parents. Do they know that you are involved in these activities?

Thank You for your advice. I will no longer continue fight this in any way after Banking Ombudsman's reply. Just waiting for the outcome for now.

A copy of the application/consent form bearing my signature. Date and time of my consent. Names of representatives and the purpose of their visit. Etc.
You could have tried the PNO route for this. Why did you choose RTI?
Is it because its a PSU and you have the option to file an RTI? Or is RTI a sure shot way to get the information you need where PNO can deny or just remain silent?

The bank doesn't not even have a PNO. I've already mailed regional and zonal officers by asking their email IDs from the banks Twitter handle but haven't received any reply from them till now.

Even Indusind does not have a PNO. Just Nodal officers.

Same thing was happened with me with 🪓is, they denied to open BSBD account, so I wrote the whole thing on twitter and tagged RBI 😤

Very next day they called me and politely ask me to visit the branch, it was 7 PM. I thought let's see, so I went there.
Then the branch manager was speaking little bit angrily and asked me why I had to open the BSBD account, I told that for personal usage and collage fees payment via the debit card. After listening this he was like do you know there is no Debit card for bsbd account, and they were staring at me, so I simply opened their website and showed them. Then they were all like, okay okay we Will open this account now, but we will deliver the kit tomorrow personally.
Now they were politely told me that there are many customers of our branch, if you openly defame our branch it will hurt our reputation etc etc. but I never mentioned my branch name on my twitter post, I sent them the details over DM, even they said what will RBI do in this matter, I was thinking in mind that I know what RBI can do and you also know it very well.
after that they opened my account, said please delete the tweet, I said I will, he was like, delet now, it will take only few minutes and I did the same.

Frankly speaking I was scared little bit, 😭 imagine it's nearly 8 pm, the bank shutter was half closed, and the whole branch was staring at you.

Good thing you stood for your rights. There is a reason why I am not revealing bank or branch name however I'm being made fun of here for the same. I haven't made any public posts about this but I did file a complaint with Banking Ombudsman. Let's see how it goes.

Don't worry, you have your own reasons. Nothing will change by the name of the bank.
Just handle the things properly, and visit them with your friends if you're going to visit them personally, otherwise nowadays they're not just abusing verbally they can abuse someone physically.

Ramesh Babu is right.
Its your age to learn and groom yourself.
You already have preservance and good communication skills.

What people gain from RBI and all this is a few thousand rs. But how much time and effort they put on this. Its not worth anyone’s time. At max one can put review on social media. That would be enough to tarnish the image and give them business loses. Fighting legal cases is good only if you are in that business.

I learnt this when a builder didnt start the project and i had intial money stuck. The property dealer in between said that if you put in a legal case then it would go on for years and thats what the builders are comfortable with. Instead he got it sorted with out the way practises (jaat wala tarika) and got the money back.

Have few lessons in life from this.
Do business or friendship with companies/people who make your life easy. If something is consuming your time and energy, then evaluate is it worth it. Unless you have no goals and want to remain where you are.

I get what you said and I really appreciate it. But since the branch already gave a threatening email I filed a complaint with the Ombudsman just to be on the safe side. I won't continue this fight even if the outcome comes out to be in banks favor (which is unlikely as the bank messed up on various aspects). But nevertheless I'm just hoping for the best.

Bhai, ab jo panga liya hai. Fight it to your last breath. Don't leave it in between. Take it as a matter of prestige.
If you leave this in between then it would take down your confidence. Which is more harmful for your personality development.

Find ways and means. See if you can send the BM message through someone verbally that you can put picture of his email on social
Media. That would scare him more than RBI.
Also look for people who are powerful in the local area and the BM can be 👎 with their help.

All the best bro. I appreciate your determination. No need to name the bank. All banks are like this only. Looking to extract money from customers in one way or the other. Thats why this forum is there. We loot them !!!
