CIBIL & Amazon Pay Score Check Issue – Mental Harassment & No Resolution!

I want to share my frustrating experience with CIBIL and Amazon Pay, which has caused me months of mental harassment. This post is to warn others and seek advice from those who have faced similar issues.

Background:

I had an old Amazon Pay account, which I later closed. After that, I created a new Amazon Pay account with updated details.

When I tried to check my CIBIL score through the new account, I kept getting this error:

"Your CIBIL report was already accessed using another Amazon account. Please sign in using the same Amazon account to check your CIBIL score."
Amazon Pay support escalated the case and informed me that CIBIL had stored my old Amazon account identifiers (PAN, email, mobile) in their system, preventing me from accessing my score through my new account. Amazon Pay confirmed that CIBIL needs to delete these old identifiers to resolve the issue.

CIBIL's Clueless Responses:

I raised multiple complaints with CIBIL, explaining the issue clearly. But every time, they gave me irrelevant, copy-paste responses like:

"We are currently working on the concern raised by you on request dated November 27, 2024, and will revert to you shortly."
"We have raised the issue with the concern IT team, and it will take some time for resolution."
"On observation, we could see that your amazon account authentication was failed."
"We are unable to remove old login credentials. Please contact Amazon Pay to create new credentials with a different mobile number."

This makes no sense because:
  1. The problem is NOT with login credentials—the issue is CIBIL’s duplicate account check system.
  2. I already have a new Amazon account, but I still can’t check my score because CIBIL refuses to delete old account data.
  3. Amazon Pay clearly said CIBIL is responsible, but CIBIL keeps blaming Amazon Pay.

Months of Mental Harassment & No Compensation:

  • I have been following up for months with Amazon Pay and CIBIL, but they keep bouncing me around.
  • CIBIL refuses to acknowledge the issue and keeps sending generic responses.
  • I requested compensation for the mental stress and wasted time, but they denied it without even addressing my complaint properly.

What Next?

  • I have escalated the matter to the RBI Ombudsman and demanded that CIBIL delete the old identifiers and compensate me for mental harassment.

Has Anyone Faced a Similar Issue?

If you’ve had trouble checking your CIBIL score via Amazon Pay due to an old account, let me know how you resolved it. This kind of negligence should not be tolerated!

Yes bro. I did factory reset, then again installed Google Pay. Now its showing "CIBIL could not verify your identity,As you did not answer security questions correctly, your CIBIL score cannot be shown. This is to prevent any misuse of your credit card and loan information."

I used same credentials which was used earlier.
What should I do any idea how I can see my cibil score.....? Other than official CIBIL site....?

Same with Amazon
"Sorry, could not get your credit score.
You have exceeded maximum number of authentication attempts to check your credit score"

How to solve this any idea....?
Looks like CIBIL has locked your access due to multiple failed authentication attempts. You might need to wait a few days before trying again. Meanwhile, you can check your CIBIL score on platforms like OneScore, Paytm, KreditBee, PaisaBazaar, or BankBazaar. If the issue persists, you may have to raise a dispute or contact CIBIL support directly.

Fetching a CIBIL report from Amazon only provides Amazon Pay offers, while ICICI conducts a hard pull from CIBIL and performs other internal checks. A good CIBIL score doesn't guarantee approval for a card or loan — there are cases where people with an 800+ score have been rejected.

I suggest opening an ICICI account and waiting for a pre-approved offer, or starting with a basic card like ICICI Platinum before applying for Amazon Pay.
That makes sense. I’m just trying to maximize my approval chances by improving my credit profile and increasing my activity with Amazon Pay and ICICI. I already have an ICICI savings account and have been maintaining ₹15K-₹20K, but I haven’t received any pre-approved credit card offers in the past two years. The only pre-approved offers I see are for a home loan and a loan against mutual funds for the past year. Let’s see how it goes when I apply next month.

I had accidentally applied and linked my dad's ICICI Apay with my Amazon account. I plan on trying to close his card(low limit) so I can apply with my ICICI limit(6L+) and link it to my Amazon account. Will I face this issue? Would it be possible?
Yes, you can check with Amazon and ICICI customer care if it's possible to change the mobile number linked to the Amazon Pay ICICI card and also delink it from one Amazon Pay account to link it with another. If this is possible, go for a complete number change instead of closing the card.

I think closing the ICICI Amazon Pay card might not be the best decision since it's lifetime free and ICICI is quite generous with limit enhancements. I've seen cases where people went from 30K to 4L in just 3-4 years. If your dad's card is old, you might get good limit enhancement offers over time. How old is the card?

I have a very peculiar issue with amazon credit score check. I have to put my pan number slightly wrong to get my credit score.

For example, suppose my PAN number is XXXXXX858X. I have to type XXXXXX585X to get my credit score. Otherwise it says wrong PAN number. 🤣
That's really strange! 🤣 It sounds like some kind of database mismatch or a weird glitch in Amazon’s system. Have you tried checking if the same issue happens on other platforms like OneScore or Paytm? Might be worth raising a ticket with Amazon or CIBIL to get it corrected.

Nah, other apps work fine. Amazon even gave me APay ICICI CC of 1.4L limit this January. So, I am not currently bothered about this glitch.

Is it a zero balance account or AMB account?. If its zero then upgrade to any AMB account. 10k should be fine.

Any specific reason you want to check CIBIL so frequently and that too through Amazon only? There are multiple other ways to check CIBIL. Why are you getting stressed for something like this?

Already mentioned my reason in above replies👍

I don't think that's the case. Bank fetching your CIBIL details has nothing to do with a partner on co-branded card.

It's a zero balance account. Is it mandatory to have a ₹10K AMB account to get pre-approved card offers from ICICI Bank? I've been maintaining ₹15K-₹20K in my account, but still, no pre-approved offers except for home loans and loans against MF.

I understand your point, but from what I’ve gathered, checking my CIBIL score through Amazon Pay specifically is seen as a way to potentially increase my chances of approval for the Amazon Pay ICICI Card. While I agree that banks typically access CIBIL details independently, it seems that Amazon Pay’s process might be different in terms of how they evaluate applications.

Anyway, I’m trying to maximize all available chances for approval, and that’s why I’m focusing on this step.

Dad is unlikely to get a limit enhancement - he's almost 70. His card is around 3-4 years but his age + limited income isn't gonna increase the current 1L limit.

I don't mind not closing it - it's just what I feel like I might have to try as I sense support not to be of any help in this particular case. Always needed to escalate multiple times with Amazon specifically for weird requests.

I see your point. Given your dad’s age and income, a limit enhancement might not be likely. However, since his card has been active for 3-4 years, it might still have some value in terms of account age and relationship with ICICI.

If you're mainly looking to switch the Amazon Pay ICICI Card to your own name, I’d still recommend checking with both ICICI and Amazon Pay support about the possibility of changing the linked mobile number or delinking/relinking the card to another Amazon account.

Closing the existing card might not necessarily guarantee approval for your own application, so it’s worth considering all alternatives before making a final decision.

I think I would get approved as I have a long term ICICI salary account and my existing ICICI cards (albeit all garbage) have high limits.

Spoke to amazon (took 7 chat agents and then two call agents) - they told the unlinking isn't possible as cashback will always be credited to my Amazon account. He told it should be possible if I close dad's card and apply for a new one.
Not sure if ICICI will be of any help regarding this as they'll ask me to contact Amazon.

Apay ICICI card will share my existing limit and be better than my other ICICI cards so I see no downside to this apart from possibly amazon support being wrong on the info they've given. Also, a new amazon account would be a bigger headache since the current account has UPI and stuff under my number.

Do i create a separate thread so there's more eyes on this?

Thank you for the replies

Since you already have an ICICI salary account and high-limit ICICI cards, your approval chances should be strong.

Regarding Amazon support, their responses can be inconsistent, so it’s possible the information about unlinking is incorrect. That said, closing your dad’s card and reapplying might be the most straightforward approach, but only if you're sure ICICI won't create any issues with a fresh application.

If you're looking for more input, a separate thread might help get fresh perspectives.
