Devaluation Alert: Google Pay starts charging convenience fee for bill payments

Just five days ago, I paid an electricity bill using the same card, and there was no such fee included. However, today, while paying another bill, I noticed this fee being applied. 0.75% + GST.
So does it mean the first bill is free of charges? That is still good if it's the case. One household, one utility bill makes perfect sense.

It would start slowly! Like every other app, they would slowly ramp up their experiment, depending on how many users drop! Soon every user would face the fees! Paytm, Phonepe did the same a year back, now GPay is doing the same!

Is it GPay charging on their own on all utility bill payments by CCs ?

Or, SOME electricity boards charging extra on payments by CCs ?

If payment is by UPI/INB, is GPay charging more ?

It's not only for telecom bro , few days ago there is no charges.

But when I tried to book LPG gas it's showing me convenience fees 7.50 + GST on 830 payment 😕 They should consider for their co branded card , but they also charged for Ace. It's not good, somedays ago they also implant monthly 25000 utility bill payment is free, then they charge 1% + GST.

Make a calculation,

LPG bill: 829.5
Convenience fees: 7.5
Cashback ( 5%) : 41.5
Profit: 41.5 -7.5 = 34

Correct, reminds me of a tale where all the inventions keep arguing which of the inventions is better. Internet says it connects the world 🌍, electric engine says it runs the world. But at last electricity says shut up, without me you are just garbage.

Amazon gateway is poised at the same level of electricity for many credit cards
still end is near

As far as I know, this fee was only applicable to mobile recharges until now. Just five days ago, I paid an electricity bill using the same card, and there was no such fee included. However, today, while paying another bill, I noticed this fee being applied. 0.75% + GST.

Yes , i notice that last day as well while paying to bills of 6544 , 3422 and they were 63, 33 rs conv fee i.e. almost 1% that means devaluation of 5* to 4% . Hence i paid the bill with SBI CASHBACK OR HDFC Millennia CC. And put discontinue request with axis ACE. No need of 1.5% as can mange that with HDFC millenia upto 1L making a lumpsum of extra 1% on every txn.
