Devaluation Alert: Google Pay starts charging convenience fee for bill payments

As far as I know, this fee was only applicable to mobile recharges until now. Just five days ago, I paid an electricity bill using the same card, and there was no such fee included. However, today, while paying another bill, I noticed this fee being applied. 0.75% + GST.

Google didn't think of Ace clearly when they made this idiot move. One advantage of Ace left is the 10% offer on Tap to pay via GPay. Once that is over, it's time to close Ace

Why outrageous ? It costs them money to provide the payment service. A few Rs charge is ok.

But they should have applied the fee initially when they launched bill payments. That time they dint bother the cost to provide service. They are making us to use their services n once we get used they charge convenience or platform fees. Zomato is mother of all who started the platform fees

Interesting point. Even the iphone doesn't support tap n pay via nfc here in india

We get 500 INR monthly even then its now devalued.

Is it better to just cancel or something ? What alternatives do we have to Axis ace for utilities ? Pls dont say airtel axis, I think it's not a very good card

I am definitely closing it. Google India should have worked this shit out with Axis Bank when they brought out this cobranded card years ago. It's not like Alphabet is short of funds - it's only the 4th or 5th largest massively profitable company in the world. Axis is not at fault in this case, they are giving 5% but Google has turned greedier
