not everyone has infinia mate, some of us were getting 5% without any CC
Infinia only Dream of majority HDFC credit card users. I believe 90% of HDFC card users have money back or similar credit cards.

I have already said upto 1% is the threshold once it comes people stop using and consider credit card as credit only. Which will become true. It's not about infina or other card. It's just to come to reality that credit card is just a credit in coming days where people will stop using it. (As a real world example when you have difficulty use credit card or else don't use which bank will say)

But US CC have good rates like Capital One Venture X and ofc Amex Plat Charge

Today I started noticing HDFC Gyftr charging 2.5% gst on amazon shopping voucher and flipkart shopping voucher . Earlier this was only ment to be there for Amazon gift card. if hdfc is going to charge so much for everything how will this work . This is so sad

When a majority of US CC users hardly ever pay the bill in full and are in never ending EMIs, its easy to pass a chunk of those interests as rewards.

Don't know. But have seen many discussing majorly about emis and it seemed paying in full is not the main stream. If many are opting emis, cc providers get enough to reward .

It's pretty disappointing that even for shopping vouchers they are charging now. With the revised criteria to get the cards making it difficult and then reducing the rewards and devaluing the cards what is their end-game?
Do they not want people using card anymore? or have they achieved their target numbers and now no more in growth phase and just want to squeeze out the existing ones like all other services do?
Is the enshittification of HDFC card or credit card in general in full force?

This could be a move of Amazon and Flipkart to reduce benefit from HDFC Smartbuy and increase usage of their own cards.
This has been happening in steps from past few months.
Anyways Infinia and Diners Black are still better compared to the 5% cashback on Amazon and Flipkart cards. Dont know what lies ahead. A few months down the line, there might be further curb on these cards too.
