I was charged 110 for 100 rs fuel transaction in a petrol pump for atlas credit card.
I know fuel transactions are subject to 1% surcharge by bank. But when I raised the issue with bank they said 10 rs is charged by merchant for the transaction.
I authorised 100rs transaction but during settlement it got changed to 110rs. Are they allowed to that?
If yes isn't 10% surcharge too much?
Edit: found this in MITC
On fuel transactions, the fuel
surcharge is not levied by
the card issuing bank
On certain fuel transactions,
the fuel surcharge may be
levied as INR 10 + GST
instead of 1% + GST. The
fuel surcharge waiver
provided to the customer will
be as per the respective
value proposition/feature on
the credit card irrespective of
the surcharge levied.
Taxes levied on fuel
surcharge (if any) will not be
waived and will need to be
borne by the cardholder
