Yaha toh mostly success hi jaa raha hai. Vaise bhi last 6 days different banks ke system upgrade pe hai because website pe message aata rehta hai. Aaj PNB ka system upgrade ho raha hai. 2 ko Axis ka ho raha tha. 4 ko HDFC. That's why txns are failing for some people due to hiccups.

If I do 75k bill pay for 50k cc bill(to max out the cashback) and get the excess refund from bank. Should I worry for anything for ITR purpose? Also is the money from the points of cashback taxable? New to all this and need help for this

Cashback of Rs.10K upto 10K aren't taxable. Also cashback o only those entities considers where you have PAN card attached. So by law you need to include it in income as 750x12= 9000 and also if you eraned from other banks. You can also avoid and then they will themselves inform you about it later if they get to know about it. Till then enjoy.

You can overpay CC bill with some banks but not all. ICICI, Axis, PNB are few which allows. I always pay excess amt in Axis as they refund to my savings acc, before stmt generation but not always. Only when have DC spend offer from HDFC

Yes I am thinking about paying the excess amount as well for ICICI. So refund is not considered any kind if income etc. As I recently saw many people who were rotating money from CC got some scrutiny.

For the first point if we avoid paying then the chance is that we may have to pay some interest + penalty for that isn’t it?

Whenever we receive tax notice, we are given time. Interest + Penalty starts when we don't pay accordingly because after getting notice we always have the point to put that either we were not aware that cashbacks are considered income or we forgot to disclose and plead for mercy. 🙂

My relative got a notice and only the assessed amt was taxed and penalty started only after if not paid within 15 days of receiving or you can always chellenge it but if you think your case isn't strong enough then just pay. They don't send notice for 5K or less. Even for 20K income your tax under 20% will be 4K only.
