My Experience
Since I have an international trip planned next month to Japan I tried to apply HDFC ForexPlus Card (multicurrency card) and load some 2,00,000 Yen to the card to compare the actual reward rate. While Google is showing the exchange rate of 2L Yen equal to 112150 INR, HDFC is charging me some 1,16,695 INR including loading charges of around 195. It equates to a direct loss of approximately 4.01% since HDFC has higher Forex rates. But with a 16.66% (5X) reward rate on my Diners Club Black credit card, this deal is too good since it would leave me a net reward rate of 12.65% which handsomely beats even the reward rates of Axis Olympus and Axis Reserve. This is a good offer especially if you hold Diners Black or above credit cards.

Loading in USD is proving to be much cheaper since only approximately 2% charge is being applied so if you want to get a card then go for Regalia Plus Forex card since although it can be loaded only in USD but can be used to pay in any currency worldwide since it has zero cross currency markup charges.

There is a mismatch in my bank name and passport so it's not accepting my application. So, I am applying forex card for my wife and will load it with the Infinia add on card which has her name. will I get 5x points?

Yes, you can. In this case, card you plan to use is your wife's card and not yours.

Website even says that you can apply forex card through family members credit card.

Apply without stating that you have HDFC savings account. Then you can mention name as per passport. I had the same issue where i was providing my HDFC customer ID which prefilled the name details which did not match. So applied as customer without HDFC account.

Thanks will try this. Wont they ask for travel tickets and visa for non HDFC customers? I dont have any immediate travel plans but have some expenses in USD, was planning to use forex card for that.

My statement came today. Forex 1x is shown separately in the statement as 3700 points.

Card is not yet loaded though branch confirmed that on Friday night, they updated the status as delivered. Card is active in the prepaid card login.

Hope it gets and I get the remaining 4x before this month end.

Yes, you will get an sms once your card is activated only then you can login for the first time using credentials in the kit.

Don't know if anyone even got the card delivered at home successfully yet. But the delivery guy will mostly handover the kit to you only. You might have to submit documents in nearest branch and then the card activation will be processed.

Finally the loading happened after threats to cancel all relationships with them if not done today. USD Vs INR become 85.54 today compared to the marked up rate I paid on 9th March of 88.73. HDFC made a killing in my forex card 😊

You will get a mail from HDFC with the details of the vendor. They will contact you can come to your home to collect the documents and deliver the Forex card.

I had also applied for the Personalised card in FOMO few days back for my upcoming UK trip and received the call few mins back to collect the card from the branch, I enquired about the documents and the person mentioned Passport, Application Form and VISA.

I told him that VISA is not required for the HDFC account holders and he is like ohh then we cannot issue the card to you, I told him that it's also mentioned in the acknowledgement mail received from HDFC that VISA/flight tickets are not required for HDFC account holders and he was still denying that this is bank policy and it won't be possible.

Will visit the branch tomorrow and see how they respond, not sure why there is no sync between these guys, anyone faced similar issue?

I visited branch today for collecting the card... Showed driving licence as ID proof and got the card

Just carry passport with you and it should suffice in case they ask. Rest of the documents are optional
