Issuance Fee Waiver Offer
There is another offer running on the issuance of an HDFC ForexPlus card where the joining fees get waived if you load a minimum of 1,000 USD or equivalent value of another currency. Check this out.

My Experience

Since I have an international trip planned next month to Japan I tried to apply HDFC ForexPlus Card (multicurrency card) and load some 2,00,000 Yen to the card to compare the actual reward rate. While Google is showing the exchange rate of 2L Yen equal to 112150 INR, HDFC is charging me some 1,16,695 INR including loading charges of around 195. It equates to a direct loss of approximately 4.01% since HDFC has higher Forex rates. But with a 16.66% (5X) reward rate on my Diners Club Black credit card, this deal is too good since it would leave me a net reward rate of 12.65% which handsomely beats even the reward rates of Axis Olympus and Axis Reserve. This is a good offer especially if you hold Diners Black or above credit cards.

Loading in USD is proving to be much cheaper since only approximately 2% charge is being applied so if you want to get a card then go for Regalia Plus Forex card since although it can be loaded only in USD but can be used to pay in any currency worldwide since it has zero cross currency markup charges.

If I buy a card online and activate it by paying 1000 usd worth of UAE sriram via by regalia credit card will I get 4x reward additional?

What would be the sweet spot for this? 90l worth of forex for 15k points? For diners black?

Also which variant is better multicurrency platinum or regalia forex?

I enquired the customer care on the details. The 5X is applicable only for the reload and not fresh application. Meaning if I freshly apply to Regalia forex plus with 1000 USD, I may get a issuance fee waiver but will not get a 5X bonus. The way to do it then is to apply with a minimum amount and then reload the card with respective sum for 5X bonus.

In that case this post which talks about this offer along with an issuance fee waiver offer is misleading. These cannot be clubbed together. Happy to get corrected if needed.

did you get 5x points? I got a reply from customer care that its not on fresh application but only reloading
5x is to be posted in next month only.

Regarding customer care, everyone is replying differently. On call, I got confirmation from Infinia customer care. Later, when I asked on email, they replied saying it is not applicable for Infinia, even though offer terms clearly says that.

Offer terms also mention words like loading and reload, what is the meaning of loading here, if reloading is mentioned separately. Also, it mention that get card url as well.

If it doesn't come, will have escalate based on offer terms and then they will credit.

I really doubt customer care knows such finer details. Usually they do not have correct info on such cases...

5X is applicable for card load via these links... new card application is routed via one of the below link. So ideally 5x should be applicable

hdfcbankprepaid.hdfcbank.com/hdfcportal/index
getprepaidcard.hdfcbank.com/index.aspx

Okay so consulted the customer care (both forex & CC dept.) again and have detailed discussions with them. The 5X benefit should apply for first time load scenario as well, also applicable to infinia metal.

Surely, customer care isn't very well aware on this but are making inferences reading T&Cs, which clearly states applicability on both load & reload. Have a trip planned for Bali in June so looking to apply and load 1260 USD for max benefit for Feb.

should should i apply for the card directly from the website and pay via my regalia credit card? i will get 5x reward points and no issuance fee correct ? or i should use my yes bank marquee credit card directly?also i am gng dubai without any cash should i carry atlst 1k diram for travelling to uae?

As per the latest update, you will get both benefit 5X + issuance fee. The OP stands correct. With regards to Dubai, I've been there many times and card machines work pretty smooth unless you wanna shop Gold/stuff at Meena Baazar/Gold Souk. They will ask you to either pay a 2.5% premium or withdraw cash from your card.

Otherwise, digital payments(cards) are well accepted. 1k AED should be sufficient, I would even reduce it to 500K if I were travelling.

500k u meant 500 AED is enough to carry right , as i have never been to dubai earlier and i am planning a budget trip so dont want to spend much really
Sorry yes 500 AED 🙂, spending how much is upto a person himself. With regards to card applicability thats pretty decent. Master/Visas accepted in Uber/Kareem and also Metro tickets. I am assuming if Credit card works fine, so should our forex cards too.. Metro connectivity is pretty decent if you are solo traveller, don't spend much on Cab

Can take any. Make sure you take a hotel thats near (walking distance) to a metro station. I usually took hotels near Financial District(closer to Dubai Mall) JBR (can rent an apartment, pretty decent price). There are a few near/connected to mall of emirates too you can explore. All these options will make you connected really well along with access to Malls..
