How many bank accounts do you have and for what purposes?

TF Select
I hold following bank accounts

  1. ICICI Bank (Savings) - For salary crediting and investments
  2. IDFC First Bank (Savings) - for savings purposes, it gives good rate of interest.
  3. DBS - Idk why I am still holding this.
  4. Paytm Payments Bank - Had opened it long back, not sure why I am holding this too.
  5. Fi.money - For day to day transactions as my primary savings account would get cluttered with few hundred rupees transactions.
  6. Jupiter - Had opened alongside with Fi, thinking to close this.

I am a Non Resident Indian. I hold following NRE/NRO accounts :

1) ICICI Bank NRE Savings (10k AQB). This was my first NRE account.
2) HDFC NRE Savings-Preferred (Recently upgraded upon request to RM)
3) SBI NRE Savings
4) Kotak Mahindra NRE Savings(10k AMB)
5) IndusInd NRE SELECT (Requested my RM for Pioneer upgrade. RM is waiting for their internal approval)
6) IDFC First NRE Savings (25k AMB). Recently took IDFC WOW Credit card against a FD. This is the one and only Indian Credit card I have.
7) Yes Bank NRE Savings (10k AQB)
8) CANARA Bank NRO Savings

The purpose of all these accounts is to diversify savings rather than parking all funds in a single bank.

I have 4 bank accounts;

1. Kotak Bank - Privy League: For my savings and daily transactions.
2. ICICI Bank - Corporate Current Account: For my business transactions.
3. Axis Bank - Regular Savings A/c
4. ICICI Bank Student A/c: This is very old account had opened doing my college days with minimum 500 balance.

Any suggestions? Thanks

1. Axis SBEZY - Joint a/c with brother. AMB 12k. Opened it long time back as a first private bank account, kept it for Rupay DC.
2. SBI Savings - Opened it for PPF investment only. Now it is zero AMB. DC charges are there.
3. Standard Chartered - For Salary A/C and investment A/C.
4. Axis Liberty - 25k AMB or Spend 25k. Joint a/c with mother. Kept it for Quarterly benefits only. Did not receive Liberty debit card, did not bother. Using free Rupay ATM card(not debit card) instead to avoid DC charges.
5. Paytm Savings A/C - It got opened automatically when I did the KYC, otherwise payment were not getting received in Paytm. Not been using though.
6. Indus Select A/C - Recently, opened for Zero AMB and free DC. Already have LTF Legend CC.

Not opened Yet
Planning to open HDFC SavingsMax or Salary A/C to get Easyshop Platinum DC for CC payment.

But I'm in a dilemma whether I should close SCB A/C as it is too much hassle to move an investment A/C i.e. updating MF portfolio, NPS portal etc. Do they convert Salary A/C into a normal savings zero balance A/C? Or a new A/C gets opened? Any charges for DC?
I am hardly getting any benefits for keeping salary A/C with SCB. Atleast in HDFC I can get a decent DC and nearby branch.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.
1. You can transfer it to rural branch to get 2.5kmab(can be done online).. and do you have rupay platinum dc with this account?
2. Can close the dc.. not useful..
3. Should keep salary & investment account saperate..
4. It gives 5%cb on weekends (groceries, dine)

Yeah its a hassle but keep your investment account permanent... maybe sbi

You shouldn't have closed the account...
Should have escalated... with high authorities.

May i ask why you need this much account when you living abroad?
I am just curious..

Open HDFC acc & close axis account

Exactly that's what I had in my mind. This encourages me to do it quickly.

I am looking for premium bank account, by any chance you can let me know what minimum balance requirements are there and recommended account categories.

Thanks!

You can go for 25kmab (savings max account)..
No dc change, most charges are not there, free atm withdrawal..

Aslo can get 1%cb on cc bill payment..

For more high variety acc you will get rm..

Plz do some some search on the forum..

As I said in my previous post, I am dividing the funds and distributing among all these accounts so that the risk factor is minimal(I am more cautious after the 2020 YES Bank crisis).
Its not the best thing to do..
If you wanna avoid risk
Yoy should consider the big3(sbi,hdfc,icici)..
Keep only one/two account with this bank..

I keep money in only two account (hdfc & icici).
Hdfc for saving & transfer.(upi shifted to rupay cc)
ICICI for investment..

You can segregate the account & bases on different usage..

Certainly, I admit that I made a mistake, but it's important to consider that I'm only 19 years old. I'm currently taking steps to rectify my past errors by consolidating my accounts. I have decided to maintain just two accounts:

1. HDFC Preferred: I've chosen this bank because it is widely recognized as one of the top private banks.

2. Union Bank: This is a public sector bank, and I've opted for their Rupay Select Debit Card, which comes with a modest annual fee of 400 INR.

I appreciate your understanding as I work towards making more responsible financial decisions going forward.
