HSBC Live+ Credit Card Review | HSBC Cashback Credit Card Rebranded

Editor’s note: This is a recurring post, regularly updated with new information and offers. Last Updated 15th July, 2024.
HSBC revamped their Cashback Credit Card back in December 2023, and I would say it stood out as an exception in a season of brutal devaluations. Since earning points for travel is becoming increasingly difficult, many people are shifting to cashback credit cards to enhance their value back. Now, in July 2024, they have just rebranded their Cashback Credit Card as the Live+ Credit Card with a fresh design. In terms of benefits, nothing has actually changed.

Here's a quick review of this great credit card from HSBC Bank!

HSBC Bank is currently only offering their credit cards to salaried individuals that too very strictly. If you are a self-employed individual then you may try your luck by opening a premium bank account against a huge NRV.

TechnoFino Recommends

After the revaluation of the HSBC Cashback Credit Card back in December 2023, it became one of the best cashback cards for offline and online dining and grocery spends. The recent rebranding is just a name change to the Live+ Credit Card, but nothing has changed in terms of benefits. This is a simple, no-nonsense cashback card from HSBC Bank that caters to both groceries and dining at a flat 10% rate, which I would say is unprecedented. Earlier, Kotak was offering similar cashback on their Essentia and Delight Credit Cards with some conditions, but these have now been discontinued.

If you are looking for a great multi-utility card for all your grocery and dining spending then this card should be there in your wallet! Not to worry about the fees since in festive time reaching that upper cap on 10% cashback even for just one time will make your card free virtually for the year. This card is in direct competition with the HDFC Swiggy card now.

just an info: got 10% on my eazydiner dining bill and if we use hsbc specific offer of 15% discount on minimum dining bill of 2500, we can take this upto 25% via eazydiner . (not availed the offer of 15% as my dining bill was less than 2500)

Update - Cashback is being posted 1 day after statement generation from September onwards under the name rewards credit

They had initially done it partly in august.

But the change is complete from September onwards
Is this just for 10% category? I bought some vouchers from park+ bt did not get 1.5% cashback on those.. only cashback on 10 % category got posted 2 days after bill generation... Do you normally see two seperate credit or does entire cashback appear as one line item?

MCC of voucher purchase from Park+ is excluded from HSBC Live+ cashback earning. You won't get any !!

Does spends done on add card are eligible for annual fee waiver of primary card of HSBC live +. Eg if my spends are 1 lakh each in primary as well as add on card, will my annual fees of Rs 1000 waived off.

So, HSBC Customer care also gives different answers to above query at different time. It seems they are also not quite clear about the issue.

I have been getting different answers from different CC guys on call/chat support when i enquired about the fees/lounge benefits for the addon card. Some said its free and also 4 Lounge access per add on card also free, some said its chargeable and also the lounge access not available. Weird.

Recently my dad used the add on card on his name in Mumbai domestic terminal, it’s complimentary. Since I didn’t use my card in the same quarter, can’t confirm whether it’s shared or separate limit for add ons.

There is no separate statement for add on card. Whatever is spent on add on card gets accounted in the primary card. If the total spend is more than Rs 2 lakh in the year, the annual fee is waived off

Just because there is no separate statement, doesn't mean they can't keep a tally of amount spent on each card. And it is clearly mentioned in their terms. So, why assume and take any risk?

If you have the old branded 'cashback' card, ask for a replacement and you will get with 'live+' card.
The advantage is that live+ is on VISA Signature and you will get Times prime subscription.

Is it free? Will card number will change? What about cashback?
