HSBC Live plus card for already hsbc card holder

Sobirvs

TF Premier
This is for a friend. He is a hsbc credit card only customer from 5 yrs now. He got the card when he used to do a job in 2019. Now from 3-4 yrs he is self employed. I don't think HSBC is aware of his self employed status.

He has a visa platinum LTF hsbc card.

He wants live+ card. What is the best way for him to get live+ card?? 1st, can he even get a new card coz he is self employed? will talking to customer care help?? does hsbc give pre-approved cards?? currently it shows 999 joining fee + 999 annual, can hsbc waive off these fee for already card holders and make it ltf? if yes how? if no, then can they reduce the fee or waive off atleast joining fee?

Also he saw 250 amazon voucher free, can he get that too?

Easiest way is to call the customer care and change the platinum to Live+. Not sure about the 250 voucher but joining fee can be easily waived off.

LTF not possible
If he apply as fresh application they will ask for bank statement and salary slips
Easiest way is to switch his existing card to live plus card. No documents required

Does cc easily let u do that? and can he keep existing card too? And how joining fee waiver can be done? should my frnd just request to waive off joining fee? shd he ask for ltf option too?

and if they don't let him keep existing card, and he switches, will hsbc allow him to switch back if he changes his mind?

and for switching, cc won't ask docs or ask for salary/self employes bs?? does he needs to get approved or will it be instant approval?

thanks for nice answers both of you.

1. You can switch without any issue. HSBC does it instantly and they don't ask for any documents.
2. Existing card will get closed. However, new card will be opened in the existing account only. No multiple accounts in CIBIL.
3. You can switch between cards multiple times. No restrictions at all.

I am in the same boat as your friend 🙂
Have HSBC Visa Platinum LTF. I got it when I was working for an Indian Company.
Now since last two years I work for an international company (remote job).

Applied for HSBC Liv+ (earlier cashback card), fresh application twice in last two years. Rejected both the times since they couldn't verify my salary slip (which is in foreign currency) as well as office location (since there is no office in India).

Despite having a good CIBIL and all bases covered, they rejected. HSBC is too adamant on the "Salaried Person" TnC. They simply reject any application which deviates even slightly.

So the answer is "No". HSBC will not issue another card to your friend.
Now, coming to converting the current card to Live+ --> I tried as well, they are again asking for all the documents (may be because my application was rejected twice in last two years). You can try this route and see how it goes.

I just had a conversation with an LIVE agent on HSBC.
I asked them to FLIP my Platinum LTF CC to LIVE+ LTF.
They are ready to FLIP for LIVE+ but only with JOINING & ANNUAL FEE of 999+GST:bomb:

My friend just got off the call with HSBC, I was with him as well. HSBC simply denied waiving off any fees whatsoever. No LTF, NO FYF. Nothing!

Anyone has any ideas how to make it happen? Emailing nodal or anything?

REMEMBER

Even heavy users can not have LTF on some cards.

However, every rule has many exceptions.

After all, Banking is NOT rule bound. It is "Law n Practice of Banking". Law n practice may (and will) differ.

existing card holders cannot apply . If you apply it will send a request to HSBC and their agent will call you and take all details and ask to email documents and then they will process the request. I did the same but they did not approve my card

Did you apply? or asked for a FLIP?
