Any way to get them to reconsider this to not close my account.

This came few days after I raised a complaint to RBI obudsman for not providing promised welcome benefit for add-on premier credit card (they shared terms and condition that its not applicable before my complaint to RBI but email received by add-on, welcome letter as well as customer care representative confirmed welcome benefits will be given for the add-on card issued).

@TechnoFino any guidance here?

Dear Mr X,
Date: 09-Sep-2025
Sub: Closure of the products and services for your banking relation held under customer ID XXX-XXXXXX
Thank you for banking with HSBC.
At HSBC, we periodically conduct reviews of customers’ accounts held with us. In an instance where an account/relationship does not meet the Bank’s internal guidelines, such accounts could be closed.
After a comprehensive review of your account activity, we regret to inform you that HSBC unfortunately, will no longer be able to provide banking services to you and would request you to close your account/banking relationship by 09-Oct-2025 (30 days from this communication).
We request you to submit account closure instructions, signed by all the accountholders latest by 09-Oct-2025 (30 days from this communication). If we do not receive your instructions by 09-Oct-2025, we will be constrained to close/block all your relationships held with the Bank and send the closure proceeds (if any) by way of a pay order/demand draft to your correspondence address available in our records.
In case you hold a credit card and have any outstanding reward points, please redeem them on or before the above referred date, post which the reward points will be lapsed and you will not be eligible to redeem any reward points thereafter.
Please refer annexure for details on specific product held by you.
Kindly reach out to us (Contact Us | Help and Support – HSBC IN) in case you need any assistance.
Yours sincerely,
HSBC India

Yeah- HSBC does this a lot- account termination letters without giving any reason and i dont think so RBI complaint is the reason behind this. If they’ve decided to close your account- it’s very unlikely they’ll reverse that decision.

Also, quick check- did you have the HSBC Salary Visa Debit Card and use the 5% debit cashback heavily ?

If they don't reverse the decision, Can I complaint to RBI stating retaliation for complaint to RBI?

If not, is it better if I only close the account or should I let them auto close?

I have a SB in HSBC HYDERABAD branch, which is now scheduled for a shift to somewhere outside the town. I want to close it.

It appears sending a closure form by post/email is not acceptable to them. They want me to physically visit the branch.

Strange indeed.

Here is a case, whose account is being closed without his physical presence and who wants to continue his account with them.

And, I do not want their account and do not wish to visit them for closure, but they want my physical presence.

Why we blame only Axis or Kotak or SBI ?

Here is a perfect example of how not to interpret rules (if they have any).
