ICICI Bank iShop Accelerated Reward Points Portal Launched - Upto 36% Reward Rate 🔥

As promised by ICICI Bank at the time of launching the Emeralde Private Metal Card and Times Black Card, they have introduced their Accelerated Rewards Portal, iShop by ICICI Bank. Through this portal, ICICI Bank cardholders can earn accelerated rewards when purchasing gift vouchers, booking flights, and reserving hotels.

The portal is similar to HDFC Bank’s SmartBuy for HDFC customers. However, ICICI Bank also offers accelerated rewards to its debit card and net banking customers, even if they don't have an ICICI credit card. The portal appears to be in beta testing, as ICICI Bank has added a "Beta" tag to the iShop logo. So, expect changes in rules and capping.

Let's dive into the details of this portal!

Reward Earning on iShop Portal

Credit Cards & Debit Cards:
  • 6X Reward Points on Flight Bookings & Shopping Vouchers
  • 12X Reward Points on Hotels
  • 4% Cashback for co-branded ICICI cards
Net Banking Customers:
  • 3% iCash on Flight Bookings
  • 6% iCash on Hotels
  • NA% iCash on Shopping Vouchers

Redemption on iShop Portal

You can redeem your credit card reward points on the iShop portal.

The value of credit and debit card reward points depends on the card you hold. For example, with the ICICI Bank Emeralde Private Metal Credit Card, 1 reward point = â‚ą1.

Redemption Options:

  • Flight Booking: You can pay 100% of the order value using reward points.
  • Hotel Booking: You can pay 90% of the order value using reward points, and the remaining 10% must be paid using the same credit card.
  • Shopping Vouchers: You can pay 50% of the order value using reward points, with the rest paid via card.

For Net Banking Customers:

  • Instead of reward points, Net Banking Customers receive iCash from iShop (1 iCash = â‚ą1).
  • For flights, hotels, and gift vouchers, you can use a maximum of 80% iCash, and the remaining 20% must be paid via net banking.

This is an amazing launch from ICICI Bank. ICICI Bank has often been tagged as a low-rewarding credit card issuer, but with this portal launch, customers can now earn significant bonus reward points using their ICICI Bank credit cards. This is a great way to revamp the bank's credit card portfolio.

One key expectation from ICICI Bank is that they should enter the airmiles game as soon as possible. According to some sources, they are already working on it. They are also aiming to launch a hotel co-branded credit card soon.

Current Portfolio - I currently hold ICICI Sapphiro (for ICICI bank CC offers on ecom portals), APay (for spends on Amazon after I have exhausted my Smartbuy limits), Coral Rupay (for UPI spends) all LTF from ICICI Bank. Times Black pre-approved with special invite from my RM also visible in app (didnt proceed with the application though). Account vintage more than 15 years, but don't hold much balance here (most liquid funds are parked in IDFC - get 7.25% interest). Also, have DCB Metal (Mainly for Smartbuy vouchers) as LTF and Axis Magnus for Burgundy.

EPM was visible as an upgrade option until last week (which is not showing now for some reason). With all the new rewards portal, ICICI seems to be back in the game. Called up my RM, EPM applied with fees of 12,500 + GST. You get 12,500 as iCash so net spend is GST (Rs 2,250). I would be able to recover this with Apay vouchers in the first month. Will hold card till 11 moths and decide to continue or not, basis deval if any.

Also, since I would have DCB and EPM both - I would be left with some Apay vouchers limit every month,

Would like to know if any more ways to optimize. Happy to help any fellow members with Hotel / Flight booking, will share the discount.

Edit 1 - EPM is available as FYF with 4 lakhs of net salary credit every month (possible) and LTF with 20 lakhs of net salary credit every month. (Hardly a few people would be eligible but for sure most people can try for FYF).

Further, dream to have Infinia now will be put on hold with this development (Was already on track in terms of spend this year and actually had missed the opportunity to get Infinia LTF as my application was submitted in mid Oct 24 and rules had changed starting from Oct24 (Got DCB Metal as LTF in its place).
where did u get this info on epm fyf ? anything on mail or something? or some doc?

I don't understand why people bother fees for this card as joining benefits far outweigh fees- points plus Taj epicure one night stay and even eazydiner annual may be of some value. Renewal benefit is also similar to Infinia. FYF or LTF is actually meaningless. Do people who take such premium cards like Infinia, EPM not even spend 10lacs on these?

Same is for epvc, joining fees reversal on 10 lacs spend and same as annual fee

100% Times Black.

Looking at just the voucher reward rate of 6% for Emeralde and 12% for Times , times beats the card by miles.

Times has a 25L fee waiver , Emerald at 15L . So ignore this completely.

Times gives you 10k hotel voucher, Emeralde doesn't ( EPM does but vanilla version doesn't when I checked ) .

For 2L spends , at 6% return rate , you don't even break even on Emeralde whereas you hit 10% return already on times black cause of the 10k joining hotel voucher and the 10k Milestone voucher at 2L spends. Yes both the vouchers are travel based so if you travel you can make it worth. If you don't want to use both the vouchers , you still break even at 2L spends on the times .

For 4L spends , if you ignore both vouchers , you still get 6% returns on times while you get 2.5% returns on Emeralde.

For 6L spends, you get 8% on times excluding voucher and 3.6% on Emeralde.

To break even on Emeralde , one needs to spend 2.3L if it's vouchers or flights , or 1.2L if it's for hotel .

Someone please correct me if my math is wrong. I did double check with chat gpt but still I might be wrong.

The above calculation is based on the fact that base Emeralde is paid . If it's LTF , it's flat 6% which is amazing.
My main query is will this get devalued? I might be eligible for times black and might get it. I have a txn of 1.2L AGV as well upcoming so it might be helpful but not sure should I risk it.

I'm not travel centric usually once a year domestic and intl maybe once in 2-3 yrs

I usually have AGV spends but limited to that only! So if that's possible then I'm thinking to take Timesblack card....

MAYBE ?

Its ICICI, Apay vouchers are like drugs for us CC folks, there is no convenience fee and very little capping. Id say yes, but the card should hopefully be good atleast for a year.
