IDFC application rejection. Secured to unsecured? Pre-approval chances?

In the IDFC portal I was offered Mayura Metal, Ashva, FIRST Power+ and Millennia. (They gave a soft limit of 40K, which was really low)

I tried to apply for IDFC Millennia C2C with HDFC Millennia (2L) as a self-employed 3L, but they rejected my application because they couldn't verify the office address, ie my home. Physical verification was done, and the verification agent said it was fine and told them the business was fully online, but it still got rejected.
  1. Should I get a secured card, ie FIRST EA₹N Virtual and then get an unsecured card. Can you hold both secured and unsecured for IDFC and can I manually apply for unsecured? What's the process for secured to unsecured?
  2. I pay my CC bills from IDFC and have spends of close to 70K on the DC per month. Acc opened in Nov (3M old). Is there a timeline for pre-approval?
  3. Is there a benefit in applying as a student? Is IDFC liberal in that way?
  4. The customer service agent said there isn't a cooling period and you can apply right away, but is subject to internal company policy💩. Forums say min 3M. But 6M is recommended. Is this true?

I got a message today saying preapproved. 42K limit. No enquiry. I was offered Mayura Metal, Ashva, FIRST Power+ and Millennia. Card already showing in app.
PS - I first ignored the message (Mar 1st) because I thought it was marketing. I think it was preapproved because I spent 1L+ on the debit card last month.

Tried for IDFC CC many times, got rejected without any reason. Opened a 10k MAB savings account for FirstTap Debit card (for CC bill payment). Simultaneously applied for IDFC Millenia CC and got approved in a week. They matched limit with my SBI CC. But they did home and office address verification though! Also the IDFC application tracker is not reliable. You can use the card before delivery.

I also got the same WhatsApp message in the first week of April. I presently have no relationship with them. Had a Classic credit card with them between Sep 2023 to Sept 2024. I had closed it solely because the credit limit was low, and they refused to upgrade it despite having a decent ITR (Am a self-employed IT professional).

I wanted to give them a chance again, so clicked on the link and authenticated myself with mobile OTP and Date of Birth. They showed me the same set of cards with another low limit again, but this time a higher one than the Classic credit card I had closed over 6 months ago. I proceeded through that link, chose Millennia, and entered my details and submitted the application and even did vKYC. (Bruh I don't know why again even?)

The next day, a verification agent arrived at my house and asked for extremely irrelevant questions like "Whose house is this?," "How many members live here?," "How long have you been living here?," etc. And then proceeded to take a picture of the house. He even asked for the details of furnishing of the house, which had the options like "Poor," "Medium," and "Good." 🤣

Literally, with IDFC the term "Pre-approved" is a joke! Thankfully, it's been four days and no CIBIL hit has been done (I have a Premium CIBIL subscription, so I am confirmed).

The last time, back in September 2023, they had rejected my application because my house and office addresses were the same. Had to escalate it to their Leadership team and then one of their General Managers from the Underwriting Team called me up from his personal mobile number and asked me to send him an email from my professional email address telling why the addresses are the same as well as my income proof. The card got approved within minutes after he received my email.

Currently, my application is still in pending status, and I'm not sure if that problem would occur again this time or not. I think it could get rejected again this time due to the reason it got rejected back in September '23. And if it does, I have no plans to escalate this time. Their cards are shitty anyway, and even the merchant offers are close to none most of the year. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

If you don't mind calling him this time ✅

I won't do it this time. 😛 It would be highly unprofessional to do so.

Back then he had pressure from his seniors, which is why he was obliged to help me out. Also, before sending the grievance to their Leadership Team, I had posted about that issue of card rejection here on TechnoFino, which he, in fact, have happened to have read already before calling me up. (I was shocked when he mentioned I had posted it on TechnoFino. Not kidding.) Either he is a member of this forum or they have tools to scan email body and attachments and check for their existence on the Internet.
