Indie Account IP funding via UPI failed, 50k stuck

vijay.vj

TF Ace
On 4th Oct, I tried opening Indie Account via app.
I choose to do 50k IP funding via UPI gpay (IDFC Bank account). However, transaction failed on Indus side.

On 5th, I contacted Indus Customer care & they said I will receive refund in 48 hours. Same day, I received emails from Razor pay mentioning refund RRN number.

Till date I didn't receive my refund. IDFC bank, each time they say different story. One time they said RRN is successful, but then where are the funds. One time they say IndusInd rejected refund.... go check with IndusInd Bank.

IndusInd bank requests for IDFC official communication of the same over email.
But IDFC instead is asking IndusInd bank account statement to confirm the refund transaction.

Its like they are playing ping pong.

Please provide guidance on how to proceed. Never faced such an issue, refunds always were credited within 2 days after failure.

Thank you !

If you have all the communication evidences with you either through phone recordings or email, file a complaint to the nodal officers of both banks attaching all evidences of your communication. Wait for 30 days for them to respond. It should be solved at this step itself. If it doesn't, then file a complaint with the RBI banking ombudsman against both banks

Guys need some help.

My gpay has ICICI account as primary. I used IDFC account via Gpay to make transaction on Indie app which failed.
As per IndusInd, its refunded on 6th oct, they provided me with RRN number. Same is confirmed by Razorpay also.
After escalation to PNO, one lady sent email confirmation that refund is pending, however they said its wrong and they successfully refunded.

Now IDFC claims RRN is untrackable. They made me check all my bank accounts in gpay and money is no where.

IDFC wants me to get NPCI portal screenshot from IndusInd for this transaction.

I already filed RBI BO complaint on IndusInd.

I'm not sure if refund is expected in IDFC account (source) or ICICI account (UPI primary). Can anyone share some light...

Since when IDFC allowed UPI per txn limit more than 25k?🙂

Txn failed on Indus side, really?
How you identified it?😐
Txn confirmation was recieved from Indus end?

Most likely it will be refunded to primary account linked with the UPI ID, in case of auto reversal.

Have you checked the txns history from ICICI MB/IB?

I did multiple txn of 50k using IDFC UPI against Merchant.

Yep, txn is successful as per razorpay confirmation. Then next day received RRN for refund.

IndusInd PNO also confirmed the same.

Refund not reflecting in ICICI nor IDFC account...

2 types of UPI refund system available -

1st -

If Razorpay processes a refund to your GPay UPI ID, the refund will be credited to your primary ICICI bank account (or any default primary account set in your GPay app).

You can also check your GPay app transaction history, where you should see an entry for the refund transaction.

First, check the transaction history in the GPay app.

Oh, while typing, I just remembered that the GPay app creates a separate UPI ID for each bank. So the refund should come to IDFC only. 🤣🤣

2nd -

UPI Source account refund.

Razorpay has reversed/refunded your UPI transaction, and the refund will be credited to your IDFC bank account within 5 working days.

Anyway, IDFC's UPI transaction dispute system is very good. File a UPI transaction dispute through net banking, and the refund should arrive within a week, unless it has been credited to a different account.

One more thing, Razorpay customer care also good, you can also contact razorpay gateway.

Check your razorpay transaction/refund/account login etc here - https://razorpay.com/support/

As I was typing here, I got email from Razorpay. Now it mentions different RRN but same refund ID.
But I'm happy that I received the funds back.

Refund initiated on 5th Oct, but credited on 6th Nov.
Not sure who is at fault.

Did reach out to them, forgot to put that part... was still typing.

Razorpay said they were waiting for documentation from issuing bank to process the refund. No idea what issuing bank has to do when merchant (IndusInd) is issuing refund for failed txn.

They never asked what documents they were looking for... just told me to get IDFC talk with them.

It wasn't supposed to take this much time.

Contact Razorpay and Indusind that the refrence number which was shared is untraceable as per my issuing bank, I haven't recieved my money yet. And hence demanding NPCI portal's screenshot for refund details, as per issuing bank's request.

I had also cancelled my order on oct 31 and got refund on Nov 4. Txn was made via CC on UPI.

P.S: Before doing anything else, once use this links, see, you will get bank refrence ID (in numbers), share that with IDFC and ICICI. The same was shared to you with the subject of 'RRN update for refund tracking', use numeric refrence number written in white colour in black background having large font size.

I assume you have had shared alphanumeric ID with the bank.

Ok, when you receive any refund email/sms from payment gateways. You can directly contact payment gateway team because this is payment gateway's responsibility to credit the refund to source account/card/UPI.

Is it combination of letters and numbers or only numbers?

I assume this time they have shared you RRN with number, right?

Earlier too there was same RRN, but they just complicate things.🤣

They shared both RRN (plain number) and refund_id which is alphanumeric on 5th Oct
Today I received different RRN and same refund_id.

I kinda feel money was stuck with Razorpay.

IndusInd kept saying they refunded from their side.
Razorpay also said the same.
IDFC says account is active, any credit should reflect.

No idea who is at fault here.

I see someone else had similar issue here, https://www.technofino.in/community...ion-failed-chargeback-request-rejected.30559/
Involving IDFC and INDMONEY. At the end, he said he found money in his ICICI account instead of IDFC, not sure if it was at expected timeline or delayed like mine

I feel money got stuck in between with Razorpay only because of unsuccessful refund, later on, they got to know about it on diging when you highlighted the same, and after then, they credited it manually or using some other ways, as refund got credited into IDFC(source), instead of default linked bank, ICICI, unlike him.

I might be wrong. 🙂

Against all merchants?

Txns were successful even in case of P2P fund transfer?
P2P I never tried... I only used it merchant app to load wallet via UPI or add money via UPI. Worked just fine

Worked with Tide and Indie... didnt try with anything else
