Guys and Gals,

Today I opened an INDIE account ... App version: 1.1.36

Background: Currently I have the following relationships with IndusInd.
1) Exclusive Bank Account
2) Legend CC
3) Pinnacle CC
4) Fixed Deposit

Process:

After giving, mobile no, OTP, PAN, Aadhar and OTP again.. the account was created instantly in a jiffy ... Extremely smooth ..
No profile detials are required, No VKYC required.. it is showing KYC status as Verified...
Funded 50K via UPI... got Megastar immediately and Virtual DC generated immediately and ordered Physical Visa Signature card for free..

Observations:

1) My Indie account number is : 18 XXXXX XXXXX = my mobile number with 18 prefix. IFSC Code : INDB0000004
2) My Exclusive bank Account no: 15 XXXXX XXXXX = my mobile number qith 15 prefix . IFSC + my local branch
3) All my existing credit cards ( Legend, Pinnacle) are shown in Indie, surprisingly, it is showing an extra Pinnacle MC World Contactless CC as another CC
4) All my Fixed Deposits are shown in Indie..
5) Showing INDIE virtual DC
6) MISSING: My Exclusive account Visa, MC and Platinum DCs are not shown in Indie yet.. Probably they slowly migrate them into Indie at a later stage...
7) A Link to open the legacy IndusInd mobile APp

With this, my suspicion is turning into reality...

I think moving forward INDIE will be the face of IndusInd's technology..
the current IndusInd mobile will be slowly phased out ...

More importantly, the current Select, Exclusive account holders.. no need to worry about your accounts...
They will be kept as it is.. They wont be replaced with INDIE account.. They will be there...

The objective:
So , in effect I will have the following, in an ideal case scenario:

1) 0 AMB Exclusive Account
2) 0 AMB Indie Megastar Account
3) 2L Indie FD
4) Legend CC LTF
5) Pinnacle CC LTF
6) 3 Exclusive DCs - Visa, Master and Platinum - LTF
7) Indie Visa Signature DC - LTF

That's the plan.. Lets see how it pans out...

Source of this news? Or just hoping? I hope not for the app at least, the Indie app is somehow worse than Indus Mobile which was itself terrible! I haven't seen Indie netbanking yet but IndusInd netbanking at least is pretty FULL FEATURED, not dumbed down. I hope Indie doesn't omit half the things we can do in Indus netbanking
This is purely my speculation based on my experience..
Let's see what happens

The code of the older ones may be legacy but performance is better than the Indie app as well as functionality

No one will be moved to the new systems unless the new one is better than the old one.
I am very sure that IndusInd is making plans to move to new systems leaving behind the age old technology and before achieving this there will certainly be hurdles , by the time the new systems become mainstream it will definitely take time somewhere around 3 to 5 years .

The important thing here is the bank had recognised the issues with their antique legacy systems and there is an effort to move onto the new tech platforms…
And there will be challenges in moving to entirely new platform and it will be interesting to see how the bank overcomes these challenges .. as customers we have to move onto adopting to the new systems sooner or later. It will be a lengthy transition though.

That's only in theory my friend. Banks have a tendency to omit and drop a lot of functionality and features when they move on to the next-gen product. They deem an under-construction project as finished and roll it out and discontinue the old one. It has happened with many different banks and from what I've seen about INDIE, some very incompetent people are building it. It won't reach the functionality of IndusMobile. I am yet to see Indie's net banking but fairly sure the vast amount of functionality in IndusInd's net banking won't be replicated. I'll give an example - when an FD is created is INDIE, there's no way in the Indie app to file a 15G/15H form so the bank doesn't not deduct TDS. And the "legacy" netbanking doesn't show Indie accounts or FDs made in Indie! They're not even counted in customer's TRV with the bank!

I disagree with you my friend. In today's era all banks are trying to offer much of it's services digitally so that no one has to visit branches. For 15G/H they had an option in indie for sometime but it was removed because it was buggy. I am certain that they will add back along with a lot more( even more than indus mobile) service request options soon.

I recently got an email to enrol on Indie because I already have an Uptox 3-in-1 savings account. I don't see any rewards or gems section on the app. Does that mean that the gems offer is not applicable to my account?

Today, I got this email

@SSV @telescope I am also getting the same error message that I already have a indie account while applying from the indie website. I hold a normal Indus select account.
If you have select account then there is not much use of indie account except ₹150 cashback on bill payment. And maintaining 50k is also not worth it.

That said, only IndusInd customer care (although they seldom care) can help.

Indie account number is always 18 followed by your 10 digit mobile no.

Guys go through this thread and do let me know if u know the solutions
