List of UPI Apps which does not need SMS Permission

Recently, i came to know that SMS permission is not mandatory for UPI apps and it is required only at the time of registration. Only phone permission is mandatory all the times....I checked most of the UPI apps and all of them need SMS permission. I am looking for UPI app without SMS permission.

Some apps work without SMS permission for a day or two but again ask for SMS permission.

Till now, I have found only one UPI app which works without SMS permission and they also mention that it is not mandatory to provide SMS permission. The app is Samsung Wallet

If you know any other UPI app which does not need SMS permission, please share.

I am trying to learn how to get our data deleted from any App which shows this:

"Data can be deleted".

You shared an image which shows: Data can not be deleted or something like this. I have seen both options in different apps and always wondered how to go ahead with deletion request with apps which do provide that option in their App Details page on Play Store.

If you can show with steps/images that will be of much help.

Let's take an example of Phonepe. You can go through the same or similar steps for other, if developers contact details like email is given, contact them.

Search Phonepe in Playstore>Scroll down lil bit. Click on see details as shown in the below screenshot.

Scroll down and click on this. 🔽

And then again scroll down until you find this, go to developer sites clicking on redirect links (https://support.phonepe.com/account-delete).


Login and check if deletion is possible.



But I doubt because on clicking, click here, I found this, that they are lying simply. See below screenshot.

I have never requested for deletion so, I can't guarantee though I guided you the necessary steps for Phonepe as an example which may be used for others as well.

One thing I think may be of your interest.. As per RBI/NPCI (I am not sure which one) regulation:

Payment apps are required to maintain financial transaction details till 08/10 years..

That is why even after account deactivation.. our details from payment apps will not get deleted.. till next 08/10 years.

Welcome, yes I am aware about it.


In my opinion,
except financial data non financial which is not statutory compliance, must be deleted instantly.

Not only this, when account is deactivated, data should get transferred to some regulated entity, managed by gov co. and the same should be deleted from the platform itself.
