LTF Infinia Upgrade Experience

Hello guys,

I know we heard a lot of stories about infinia upgrade but I somehow felt the journey I had is possibly less explored less discussed and less successful for most of us . Let me begin with my failed attempts :

2021 - Initially spotted that there's a invite only card called infinia and enquired at a nearest branch I was told " You have to be invited and there are very special criteria's. " I applied for a DC privilige but was rejected in a day. Escalated to their VP cards and was then approved with a 2L limit. I have spent 1L in a couple of months and was told card was LTF. I used the card for a while and then emailed grievance team for a upgrade to Diners Club Black. Was rejected in a day stating limit required is 5L minimum . I retaliated stating that existing card is LTF kindly upgrade to a paid DCB still it didnt work.

2022 - Kept using the card and received a LE from 2L to 2.6L. Had a major spend and used the card for a spent of 2.57L in a single swipe and repayment was done on time. Post that received another LE to 3.6 L . I immediately wrote to grievance stating my spends are high even on competition cards like amex plat and requested for an infinia. Was rejected in a day. At the same time I had a neu infinity LTF with same limit and out of frustration about not able to get there i closed DC privilege.

2023 - I gave up my pursuit on infinia and relied on magnus and amex plat for max rewards . Post which magnus became RIP I again wanted to pursue for infinia. This time wrote to head credit cards stating upgrade is being rejected whereas a twitter user showed off stating he secured an infinia for his spouse with a 3.6L limit. I was triggered by this and escalated on twitter and to their nodal officer. They apologised and asked me to share the docs and consent. Did the same and was rejected in a couple of days stating I dont meet the income criteria ( Honestly I dont cause CTC < 20 L but ITR <30 L ). This is where I wanted to take a different route. Thanks to our community and the knowledge sharing i realised few approvals are needed from branch banking vertical. We have had imperia relationships ( not much CASA, insurances , investments etc., ) so started speaking to BM. Bm and RM had no clue and said not possible. I realised threatening them for accounts closure etc wont work as I have seen a friend maintaining 50 L AMB was denied infinia forget LTF. I didnt want to lose hope and somehow felt a bit frustrated about following up requesting people and decided to pull some favors. Took me a days time to speak to the very senior official, HDFC india about my requirement and our profiles. Post which the banking head has reached out was very kind enough to have his team note down my requests and was eager to have the cards approved. It just took 3-4 days of time and all of our cards are approved as LTF ( honestly didnt have to push them much ). I got a confirmation from the team in chennai that its been pushed for dispatch and was told branch banking leadership will personally deliver these cards to us.

My Conclusion : I rather feel good about the journey for infinia . For me personally its been the most difficult one to get, branch banking team surprised me with a LTF though which will surely make me loyal to stay with them . But What I realised is how much I have learned out of this experience especially in negotiating with a financial institution. When I watched @TechnoFino stating we can ask anything from the bank I thought he is being funny but in reality that works maybe differently for everyone. In the end I would say be an enthusiast and keep trying . It will workout for sure.

P.S : The route which I have taken is less explored for sure is what I believe. Will update this thread once I get my Infinia. My request is kindly do not ask for references or contact information of the officials who got this done for us I wouldn't be able to and i really appreciate all of your understanding and support on the same :) . Thank you @1RC and @cardwizard for your words of encouragement when I wanted to share thoughts about possible routes to upgrade for an infinia :) . Thank you for reading guys!

Hi Just out of context, if you do not have this 7.5 L spend in last 6 months but have old relationship including corporate salary and Imperia banking and meet all criteria (DCB metal 9.6 L limit), Can you go ITR path and what component of ITR is considered "Total Income" or "Gross Total Income" > 36 L as mentioned at many places. (I know this is for NTB) to have some chance of being considered. @SSV
are you salaried or self employed?

I don't meet that criteria, and in the chase from grievance> priority redressal> PNO, it has reached a stage, where they asked me to show that 6 month of other cards if i have larger spend on them and i said i am not willing to share my personal data, but i can share my ITR, if they want, and i am awaiting an answer, they may agree or disagree, so wanted to understand what line they look in ITR.
not sure, let’s wait and see…
If you are borderline they may consider

Afaik you can't get Infinia just based on ITR.
I think best would be to try for DCB metal and have spends on it to meet criteria.
And if you don't spend that much I don't see point of taking Infinia.

Probably i didn't phrase myself properly, I have DCB metal with 9.6 L limit, Corporate Salary and Imperia relationship with them, and in the process of requesting of upgrade, amongst few of the reasons i put out for upgrade was exceeding ITR limit of 36L and larger spend on multiple other cards, Now PNO team came back and said, for exception pls share your other cards 6 month statement, which i man not comfortable with, I said If you want ITR i can share, so my question still remains, what counts as more than 36 L income, is it "total Income" or "Gross Total Income" in ITR. Whether they consider my request to entertain ITR is not relevant for now.
Not sure. But for Infinia I think salary should be more than 3L not the ITR criteria.

But that still didn't answer my question what does >36 L ITR mean "Gross Total Income" or "Total Income" @SSV
From what I know, they need the following for FYF Infinia card:
* spends of 7.5L+ (perhaps) last in last 6 months
* 3L+ salary credit per month in your bank account for last 3 months.
* Limit of 8L+ on your current HDFC card.

The back and forth with PNO team is still not concluded, Let me update, if they stick to spend based criteria / salary or are willing to consider ITR more than 36L as basis for Salaried person.
Unless they can give an exception (based on your past relationship with them), i wouldn't put hopes on it, as they are currently very strict on spend criteria for existing customers, but they give Infinia for new customers based on just ITR (which sucks for existing customers)

You mean after taxes

Yes this seems to veering in this direction only, they asked me to share credit card statements for last 6 months to show higher spends on other card for exception (this was surprise to me that they are willing to consider other bank's statement), i think they value more spend vs relationship (perhaps they think old customers won't go).
If you dont want to share other credit card statements, ask them if they will take your bank statement showing payments for other credit cards.

I applied for Infinia based on itr through rm. He said would get Infinia. Applied on 14th still status inprocess. Don't have any other hdfc cc. Said would get final status in 3 4 days.
Still application inprocess. Spoke with rm and customer care said still in process, said again will come to know in 2 3 days.. does hdfc take this much time for approval?

old or NTB?
With regards to credit card NTB. Had opened salary account 7 years back. The company under which i was doing internship had opened. Used for 1 year then account became dormant. Reactivated account 1 year back. Then learned more about credit cards few month back. Added 10 lakh to account and made it imperia 1 month back and on learning more about Infinia in this community applied for it on 13th through rm.
