Hi all, wanted to share my experience applying for Axis Magnus.
I am an NRI and have NRO/ NRE savings accounts and FDs with Axis since 2012 with high relationship value. I was in India and decided to apply for Axis Magnus Credit Card at my branch. The credit card specialist agent came home, verified my finger prints, took my salary slips and said I will get the card in 3-4 days. I kept following up, but he always had an excuse. After 3 weeks, I came back to USA and after a few days got a generic rejection email. My RM was clueless and useless. The credit card specialist who helped me apply said Axis is not issuing credit cards to NRIs lol. (My NRI friend who suggested this card makes less salary than me and has lesser relationship value with Axis but had no trouble getting approved). A few days later, I saw a Magnus pre-approval offer in the Axis app. Excitedly, I clicked on it and got denied immediately. Haha.
On a whim, I decided to apply for HDFC Diners Club Black card without having any relationship with HDFC whatsoever. A agent called me, walked me through the application, uploaded the same documents as Axis and got me approval in 48 hours. The card has reached home and my family members will carry it for me when they visit me.
Next time I'm in India, I am planning to close Axis and transfer everything to HDFC. Axis just lost out on Rs 25L credit card spend customer. I guess they don't care.
PS: I had mentioned to Axis specialist that I have Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card with a large limit and several other US premium cards that can be used for C2C. He said, it's not needed, he can get me approval easily without C2C. What an idiot.
