My journey with SBI Vistara Prime application

I was trying to apply for the SBI Vistara Prime card after a convo with forum members here. My online application on Sprint got stuck just before KYC as SBI doesn't think I'm eligible. FYI, I have a pretty good credit score, already hold Cashback with 3.75L CL, and meet all other publicly available eligibility criteria. Also the CB is the only SBI card that I hold.

Today I got a call from their CS team saying the reason this card is denied was that I'm already holding a higher-end card (Cashback!) so I can't apply for the Vistara directly. They gave me two options:

1. Pick a lower-end card, use it for 3 months, and then re-apply for Vistara. Among the default alternative options I'm getting on Sprint page, the only ones I've heard about are SimplySave and IRCTC (both Visa/RuPay), the rest are co-branded cards that I couldn't care less about.
2. Wait for 3 months and directly try re-applying for Vistara again.

Of course they couldn't give me a guarantees that either of these methods will definitely work, but their suggestion was to go with 1. They also did admit that applying offline would have increased my chances of getting this new card (as @Walter White had also recommended in the other thread).

Given your experience getting SBI cards approved, which of these options should I go for? Do you think I should try my luck offline right away anyway?

PS: Also, before someone suggests me to get the Axis Vistara instead, I recently got the Magnus so I'm still under the cooldown period, and getting SBI core card will give me more diversity.

Edit 25/11/23: Updated thread title to reflect how this thread evolved over time.

Offline for the simple reason that bank employees have targets to meet and they will get it done for you. But ask before that can you get it right away or after some time.

Thanks @starstruck, I'm going to try that.

@Wealth is my birth right! @Rkr I see you have a ton of experience with SBI, what's your take on this?
Ok to go that route but u missed this month end as its over
Further when u share docs with this agents whenever there is shortage of lead they use out data which will create unnecessary CIBIL enquiries take care
Sprint data is safe but u can’t get ur desired card sometimes

@Wealth is my birth right! I hold an SBI IRCTC Rupay card that too paid. I had received this by mistake. This card is useless, can't even add it to UPI.

My question is which SBI card I should upgrade to so that I can have it LTF or every year fee waived off by calling their customer care team?
I am more into Online usage- grocery, Food order, or online purchases and maybe occasional dine-out once or twice a month.

@Wealth is my birth right! What do you think about getting the SimplySave for now and doing a card swap after 3 months? Given I won't be doing many transactions on this card, will I be able to easily ask for an upgrade?

Secondly, they are offering me a bunch of co-branded cards, including RuPay ones. Is it preferable to stick to the core card to get upgrade to Vistara Prime?

Switching or swipe up they won’t check ur usage history so no issues on that front
Vistara also co branded only imo but better get a core card first

@Wealth is my birth right! any suggestion bro?

I got simply click card yesterday with a meager limit of 15K should I activate it? My lowest limit of anu card is 5L
You should activate the card, while acquiring a card may prove challenging, elevating your credit limit becomes effortlessly attainable through the submission of essential income documentation.

You can try for IRCTC SBI Card itself to get converted to LTF.

@Rkr his long thread will work.
Yes. That's already what I have discussed with the SBI team. They said to call them when it's about to renew and they will waive off the renewal charges.

The thing is I do not like this card. It holds no value for me. I am holding this for the last 3 years and have used it twice only.
Should I upgrade/change to some other SBI card that has a better reward system as per my expense criteria - Online usage- grocery, Food order, or online purchases and maybe occasional dine-out once or twice a month? and talk with the SBI team to make that LTF?
I want to hold an SBI card for bank-specific offers.

I don't know how but I was approved even for prime but I thought why to pay such fees so opted for simply click just because I liked the colour lol but didn't activate due to less limit
