Need help in understanding HDFC Billpay for paying credit card bills

I added an axis bank cc in the Billpay section of my hdfc app. i got this email from hdfc:

"Did you know you can earn up to Rs.1800 CashBack by setting up Autopay on your bills?"

i want to know:
1. if i will earn 1% cashback by paying through my debit card, even if i don't setup autopay.
2. is this 1800 the upper limit of 1% casback through debit card? i have easyshop platinum dc.
3. while adding cc, i get an error ' smartpay cannot be enabled for this biller'. is everyone facing this error?
4. how does repeating autopay work? sometimes my cc bill is a few hundred rupees, but sometimes in thousands. does hdfc automatically retrieve the amount due, or do we have to manually enter payment amount everytime?
5. is smartpay and autopay the same thing?

1) yes you will earn 1% even if you don't use autopay.

2) For platinum dc cashback limit is 750rs per month.

3)Maybe some issue with the bank but i never used it so can't tell.

3. while adding cc, i get an error ' smartpay cannot be enabled for this biller'. is everyone facing this error?=for cc payments smartpay not permitted
4. how does repeating autopay work? sometimes my cc bill is a few hundred rupees, but sometimes in thousands. does hdfc automatically retrieve the amount due, or do we have to manually enter payment amount everytime?=thats why auto pay disabled
5. is smartpay and autopay the same thing?=smartpay is for fixed subscriptions and auto mode yes

the cc that i added in billpay 2 hours back is still pending verification. when i tried to pay, it fails and i get the sms:
Payment Failed! AutoPay for Axis Bank Credit Card Bill of Rs. 1.00 for XXXXXXXXXXXX4522 could not be processed.You can manually pay the bill via Net/MobileBanking App to avoid penalty.

so iam not able to use billpay in any way

Wait for couple of days to get the biller approved by hdfc post which pay by debit card so that cb of 1% will apply

Others have already answered. Some details - 150/month and 1800/year cashback limit is for regular bill payment like electricity, mobile post paid etc. available in BBPS using Smart pay and Auto pay. You can use your credit card too and will get the cashback in next statement apart from regular reward points. And there used to be some GV offers of 200 to 600 when you register 2 or more bills upto 10 bills. Check Smartbuy. The 1% cashback is debit card specific and use it to earn as debit card cashback points and is useful for non HDFC credit card payments (along with other shopping categories if you are using, most dont use as credit card is for that purpose) and get rewarded. Monthly cap is 750. You still need to encash them once you achieve 250 points minimum. They lapse at end of the 12 months.

I have paid an amount without making it autopay, but I didn't get the cashback. And it takes 3 days to reflect the amount paid in the credit card statement to reflect..
Hassle process. So back to cred app again.

i think you will have to wait 90 days for cashback. and it doesn't get credited automatically; you have to go to the debit card section and click on redeem points to get the cashback in your account.
