Need Suggestion for Regalia Gold or DCB

Hello friends,
I am moving my salary account from ICICI to HDFC.

(Because ICICI silently downgraded my account from Wealth Management to Privilege.
Even my ICICI debit card will become chargeable.
There is no point in continuing in ICICI with no other benefits and least rewarding cards.)

Now in HDFC, I will surely get Regalia Gold LTF, or maybe DCB LTF or FYF. (The manager will confirm this on Monday)

My question is: In case if I get DCB (or DCP) LTF, should I take it, or go with RG LTF?

These are my rough monthly spends:
  • Swiggy: ₹20k-25k per month (now using HDFC Swiggy card) - 10% straight.
  • Amazon purchases: ₹5k per month (now using ICICI Apay card) - 5% straight
  • Fuel: ₹15k-20k per month (now using ICICI Coral Rupay UPI) - Need to see an option for this. I use Jio BP.
  • Utilities, Electricity & water bills, LIC: ₹20k per month (now using ICICI Apay card) - Amazon gift voucher using Apay card, 2% straight
  • Travel and Hotel:₹5k per month or so (Both are rare, not a frequent traveller)
    • Flights booked in Amazon. My flight trips are mostly Kochi-Bangalore. Rates are around 2500 one side. - Using Apay card, 5% straight.
    • Trains are booked in IRCTC site directly, I now use Swiggy HDFC card for this. - 1% I guess
  • Offline UPI Scan: ₹20k per month (now using ICICI Coral Rupay) - No rewards yet, will try to get Neu Infinity.
Total spends for a month = 80k - 90k

I also need a Neu Infinity Rupay as well. Can I ask for that now itself, or after getting the core card?
Please advise.

If you are eligible for DCB, then go for it.
Even paid is also great, anyway all HDFC cards are FYF
I see most of your spends are online, so acceptability won't be an issue.
RG Gold has poor offline reward rate. (1.33%)

Get the core card first and then wait for the cooling period to end, then apply for tata neu card.

If your fuels spends are that high, consider getting a fuel cc for better reward rate

Get a Fuel card (Indian Oil RBL / SBI BPCL / IDFC Power + / Axis IOCL)
  • Utilities, Electricity & water bills, LIC: ₹20k per month (now using ICICI Apay card)
Use Airtel Axis or Ace. For LIC Payment use APV.
Offline UPI Scan: ₹20k per month (now using ICICI Coral Rupay)
Get the Yes Kiwi Card with Neon Subscription Free FY

If eligible for DCB LTF keep your eyes closed and take it else go with RG LTF.
DCB will open the path to Infinia in the future.

I don't think you'll be able to get DCB LTF. I had a lengthy discussion with Banking Cluster head and Regional Mgr for credit cards. Both are saying LTF stopped in all forms for super premium cards (DCB and Infinia) from 01 Oct 2024 onwards after the income criteria revision.
All offers will now be based on how much spends you put on your old card.

No doubt DCB has better reward rate, will be suitable for most of your needs. Try to reach spend criteria for fee waiver (5 lakh for plastic, 8 lakhs for metal) as there is no renewal benefit against fee paid.
Take tata neu only after taking core card.

thanks for the latest information. I will see what this guy says on Monday and I will update here.

If it is DC previlege, is it worth still?

Is HDFC still offering diners club plastic? After introducing metal, I read somewhere that plastic is no longer being issued?

Sorry, you meant Diners club Previlege. If that's the case, will it be still OK to go for LTF?
Yes Diners Club Privilege

Well both have their advantages but generally Regalia Gold is considered more premium card. Personally DCP suits my spends more than Regalia, so you have to compare the card features for yourself.

Thanks. It didn't click in my mind that it could also be DC Previlege. I'll compare it with regalia gold and see.

Your cl must be >3L, then even your savings account will be 0 mab privilege account. I think privilege gets rupay platinum dc ltf. Confirm with your rm.

There is no surety with hdfc. But as you are ntb, you might get rg ltf. Dcb ltf is highly unlikely. He might have said dcp ltf. Bank don't earn much from salary account. Many people take out major part of salary in first week itself to pay rent/emi/shopping etc. Unless you comfortably surpass infinnia's requirement, dcb ltf will be very tough from just a salary account.
My question is: In case if I get DCB LTF, should I take it, or go with RG LTF?
In most cases Dcb >>rg. Problem is dcb's offline acceptance outside metro cities. Both cc are useless for fuel spends.

Dcb comes with hefty annual fee with no renewal bonus. If your spend on dcb <5L, rg ltf would be better. Rg also gives highest return at >7.5L/8L. Below 6L spends it's return isn't very high. Only flight is good redemption option for rg.

If itr >30L, you can get bob eterna rupay ltf. Offline spends have 0.75% return, online 3.75%. 1% bonus return on 5L annual milestone. Plus it has lower number of exclusions.

Else you can go with radiance route. But that depends on luck as psb employees don't have interest/motivation /fear to help anyone, plus most are totally clueless about their offerings. Here some branches are saying I need to maintain 1 full qtr to upgrade to radiance. Some are saying 6m. 😒 they can't promise to upgrade to radiance within 10-15days even with a 20/30L ip.

Thanks a lot. I am not moving to BOB or other PSU banks. SBI is my primary bank for all other investments, and banking.

Coming to this, you mean I can convert RG points to different options, and among that, flight is the best value right. I read somewhere RG points are valid for 2 years.

Since my spends are not high, I may go with RG LTF itself. Thanks again.

No need to move your business to bob. Some have managed to upgrade to bob radiance within a week or two with just 10l ip. Parking 10l for a couple of weeks to get ltf eterna isn't a bad deal. Ltf eterna rupay might be the best card for you.

Yes. Plus the 5k vouchers at 5L & 7.5L milestone are also flight vouchers. I am not sure if those vouchers can be partially redeemed.
Gold catalogue redemption option is totally useless.

rg dont have fuel surcharge waiver. So plan accordingly.
If spend on rg <7.5L and you won't use smart buy to book flight then millenia ( Even your existing hdfc swiggy) might be better.

Nice. This is new to me. Let me explore and I think this would be good. Thanks for the suggestion.
Bob & sbi are notorious for rejecting cc stating over leverage. That's why if you already hold a number of cc/loan from diff bank, radiance program is best option for eterna.
But don't go to small branches, ask them which has radiance rm. Go there or ro of your city. Ro should have radiance rm.
I also want the eterna but most branches here are useless. No one is ready to commit within how many days they'll upgrade to radiance or provide the ltf eterna cc.
