Pro Tips-

Simple way to make Any basic to mid range SBI card LTF is to "Just raise a closure of card account request through Sbi card app .After few hours you will receive a call to ask a reason for cancellation ,there tell them Either make it Life time free or cancel the card. They will make your Card LTF.Done on my both sbi card and now both are LTF.Service request to make your card LTF is taken as PCT id is to be changed. You can check in service request tracking menu.

Caution:-If you holding multiple cards of SBI then kindly do this process at one card at a time only.Do on other card after at least month. If at any point SBI Card is not agreeing on LTF and offering you Annual Fee waivers only then Accept Fee waivers at that moment and Apply the same trick Again after 1 or 2 months for LTF.
IF ANYONE HAVING ANY SPECEFIC CONCERN THEN DO DM.

Edit 1-If afterall anyone missed the call from retention team then they can simply call customer care and there simply tell them to connect/transfer you call to retention team as i want to discuss regarding my card closure request. They will connect you to their retention team and now there you can project the above trick to get your card LTF ..

Edit 2(09 July 2023)-Even people have made sbi cards having fee upto 1499 LTF and even higher varriant cards you will get equivalent reward points or miles or annual fee waiver in place of LTF.

Edit 3(15 October 2023)- Even people have made their SBI cashback credit card LTF by their skill of negotiation.

Edit 4-Now a days SBI Cards sometime, closing the card without calling so suggest now dont place request through app by self .Call customer care directly and ask them for LTF/fee waivers or to transfer the call to retention team for doing the same.

While trying to make card ltf I had to stay on phone for around 30 mins(multiple transfers+ server issue) had to type something like 18384848488392929298457478483929293938383929298384738387474838382828929 on mobile finally they told they'll wave any yearly fee but I will have to call them when the fee is charged I got sweat and chills on my face so asked them to close it

Why anyone does not told me that we have one more panda apart from two ?

Why ?

For simply click i have used this trick 4 days back and checked with customer care about LTF status,He told me its ltf now.
For simply save ,had done this 1 month back to make it LTF.
My SimplyCLICK card is almost 1.5 years old. Last year I spent way above their threshold of annual fee reversal. So, is it a right time to make a card closure request to make it LTF?

Offcourse you can .....
Must read the main post ...
Yeah, I did that. But here's the thing. I just tried to create a closure request. I had to choose a reason. I chose "Other fees & charges" and in the app they immediately show "We'll take it back". But I tried to skip the option and they asked to first clear the outstanding. Now I am thinking if I clear the due and by any chance they directly close the card then it'll be a problem. So, what should I do here?

Looks like you have not read this topic fully. At least read the comments from page 54. You may find the answer what you can do once you place closure request.

See Bro...You just clear the dues and wait for call from retention team....

Its very rare that without getting call from retention team your card will get closed...

If you want to play extremely safe then go via customer care rout and there tell them to transfer the call to retention team..Kindly keep one reason ,basis on which you ask for LTF.
Suggesting if anyhow the backend team is not agreeing for LTF then dont proceed for closure...

Better read the Main post attentively.

Lol, I read your reply just now but a few hours back I did exactly what you have said here. The customer care executive kept me on the call for almost 25 minutes as she could not connect me to the card closure team and she finally connected me to her supervisor. Then he asked me to wait while he could check if the LTF offer was available for me. And then he said yes, it's available. I can see "PCT ID To Be Changed" in the service request section.

It's case to case basis. Can't generalize it.
Some may get it some may get they card closed with a warning. Lucky you

Didn't get it. So, creating a request through the app is the only generalized method?
If you use the app way then you will directly get call from retention team so no waiting period and bargaining.
If you are eligible for LTF then you will get it else they will ask you one more time before closing the card permanently.
There are 3 ways -
1. SBI cards app
2. Through customer care
3. Via e-mail

No dear....I have always said if backend team is not agreeing on LTF or fee reversal then dont proceed for closure..

Same is also mentioned in Main post..

BTW even recently closed card of sbi is also reactivated with ones negotiation skills.

Hello Everyone

Recently, I requested the closure of my SBI Cashback card due to the high annual fee. I then received a callback from SBI, and during the call, I informed them about my desire to retain the card if the annual fee could be waived. In response, they offered to convert my card to a lifetime free version, which I agreed to. I subsequently confirmed this agreement via email.

Yes they have been doing this for quite a few months. But it’s on selective basis. Not everyone is able to get it converted to LTF.
