The limit increase is most probably on your Airtel Axis credit card. During application via Airtel thanks app, there will be check box to enable bank increase credit limit based on card usage. If you had checked it, Axis Bank can increase your limit without your subsequent approval. Otherwise they take your consent before any limit enhancement.
I just called their priority support member and below is outcome

-> 20L figure as a aggregate limit could be some technical issue on App/Netbanking, as they don't see 20L as aggregate limit in their backend systems (they see only 4.5L as aggregate limit)
I have 20L as aggregate limit. If i use the card for ₹100, it decreases to 19,99,900 for few days (until the transaction gets reflected in unbilled) and then resets back to 20L.
