Regarding HDFC Infinia CC

Hi All, I am getting Infinia (most probably as LTF). I know there is so much hype for it but I am unable to understand its actual potential. So not sure if it is worth or not.

Currently holding Axis FK, SBI cashback, Axis myzone, Axis neo, Hdfc Regalia.

I am pretty much satisfied what these cards offer. How Infinia would be game changer rather than just be forcing me to boost my spend?

P.S - getting this CC out of some favour so not sure if it is worth or not.

This is so wrong I don't know why would you mislead someone. Tanishq GC is only applicable on offline stores and explicitly not applicable on gold coins.
Have u tried purchasing it. If u have infinia and have bought tanishq vouchers then please enlighten us. I came across youtuber wo mentioned this so i posted.

I have started with HDFC platinum card in 2012. Within a year HDFC upgraded to Superia. In another year it was Regalia LTF. I had requested for upgrade to Infinia in 2017. Annual spends on Regalia were around 8-9 Lakhs during that period. But HDFc offered only DCB. Upgraded to DCB in 2017 along with HDFC classic savings account. Over the years savings account became Imperia account. During the RBI ban period HDFC upgraded everyone into Infinia. I didn't opt as DCB was on par with Infinia during that time. Annual fee waiver spend criteria was low @ 5 lakhs.

After the devaluation of DCB, i had requested for Infinia. HDFC refused to upgrade me to Infinia even though my average annual spends from 2017-2021 are above 8-9 lakhs. I was meeting two (salary and CC limit) of their three conditions except the spends of 6-7 lakhs in the last 6 months of usage. Finally i had told the branch manager about my intention to close all my association with HDFC. Only then branch recommended the upgrade. Got the Infinia FYF in March 23

Only way to get it is by branch recommendation.

I was upgraded from LTF DCB to Infinia last year with FYF and renewal fee waiver if the previous year spend is above 5 Lacs. I had written to HDFC customer care about non acceptance of DCB during travel to USA. Rideshare Apps like Uber /Lyft do not accept DCB and many other online merchants. They agreed to upgrade to Infinia with FYF and renewal fee waiver if the yearly spend is above 5 Lacs. No income proof was asked and I asked to complete an upgrade form, scan and email it back to them. I received the Infinia card within 3-4 days.

What's the update on this one man. Did you get Infinia

i have one question that ,1 RP is equal to 1rup in tanishq, if i want to but 10000 worth gold with RP and i want to sell that gold(in real terms what value i get if i want to in cash.)
thank you
How much you loose in selling physical gold depends on the type of jewellery or if it's gold coins.

Gold coins usually loose around 10% when I checked around 4-5 years ago. Trick is to sell it to the same vendor offline as much as possible. This is besides the current market price, which in itself fluctuates greatly and unpredictable.

Jewellery is a different ball game - the making charges/ wastage varies greatly depending on the type of jewellery.
You will loose more money on stone cladded one's and plain gold jewellery may be a better option.

In general, it's not wise to buy it redeem gold online and then try to sell offline - you could loose significantly. I would go with this option only if retaining gold or worst case use for gifting purposes

Agreed!! DCB had major acceptance issues in USA. I faced the same earlier and since then not using it as primary card.

in india i can see it has improved by 30%... now HDFC POS and SBI POS machine by default accept DCB ..And if the merchant bank is in HDFC then also they accept DCB .. issue still persist with axis bank and Pine labs machines 🙁

I thought Diners network has reciprocal benefits due to their tie up with RuPay network and hence should have high acceptance rate in India now. Isn't this the case?

Assuming my assumptions are correct - Aren't all machines supposed to by RuPay compatible in India now. My usage is new and limited but haven't found anything in Bangalore that does not accept RuPay cards yet

So they upgraded to Infinia and will waive off renewal fee if the spend is above 5 lakhs.
You confirmed regarding the spend threshold, right? Bcz normally for Infinia, the spend should be 10 lakhs to waive off renewal charges.

nope even today i can say acceptance is 75% 🙁

Tanishq and apple. Hmm.. how many points we need to spend a simple products from their catalogue? Both are costly.. we may save few thousands but have to spend more thousands.. cannot buy this two always
I agree, but I feel tanishq is still a good option. Tanishq give special discount in birthday month/Anniversary. i.e

- Flat 10% off if buying any diamond Jewellery and its above 1.25lakh (I go prefer item which has least amount of diamond).
- Flat 6% off if buying any diamond Jewellery and its below 1.25lakh (I go prefer item which has least amount of diamond).
- Flat 10% off on making charge for gold items and its above 1.25lakh (I go prefer item which has least amount of diamond).
- Flat 6% off on making charge for gold items and its below 1.25lakh (I go prefer item which has least amount of diamond).
