Millennia Rejected LTF Upgrade to Millennia

TF Buzz
Hello Community!

I recently got rejected for an LTF upgrade to HDFC Millennia from HDFC Moneyback+ (LTF).

Let's start with some background.
I currently hold 4 cards:
HDFC Moneyback+ (3,00,000 limit, holding since last 1 year)
HDFC Rupay Credit Card (shared limit with Moneyback+, holding less than 1 year)
HDFC Pixel credit card (visa+rupay, holding since last 6 months) (transferred limit of 30,000)
Amazon Pay ICICI credit card (3,00,000 limit, recently acquired)

All the cards are LTF.

I hold a salary account eith HDFC for the past 2.5 years, and recently got upgraded to HDFC classic banking program (though this happened after the ltf upgrade rejection. But i don't think it would've given me any advantage).

My total spends for the last year on Moneyback+ card alone is 2.5lakh.

Recently I got an upgrade offer to Millennia, but it is FYF only.
I reached out to grievance redressal, and escalated all the way up to PNO, but they all rejected to give an upgrade offer as LTF Millennia, saying the bank policy only allows upgrade to be only FYF and not LTF.
I called the RM and checked, and he straight away said they don't offer LTF upgrades, and to close the card and reapply after few months and he said I would probably get a DCB.
What is infuriating is that HDFC was offering Millennia as LTF for new applications for some days in January! I mentioned this, plus the fact that Amazon pay card is giving better rewards in the grievance mail but nope. They are hell bent on not converting it to LTF upgrade.

Right now, I'm in a dilemma. Should I go for the upgrade now to FYF Millennia, and try to get it converted to LTF after few months (do they even do that anymore?)? Or will I get an LTF upgrade to Millennia if I keep waiting for a while longer?

I do not really want to lose an LTF card, but the 5% CB on Millennia seems pretty good.

I feel like I would be able to hit the 1,00,000 waiver criteria but I don't want to be spending money just to hit that. I care more about the peace that comes with LTF.

They don't seem to give the renewal membership fee as cashpoints anymore, so that fee is just fee now.

Any idea how long the upgrade offer lasts once we get the first message? I think i will wait till close to the last moment, if the offer is still FYF, then go with upgrade and then later request LTF through mail.
yeah, we can't predict that but wait till month's end and then proceed if not refreshed
Also any idea how difficult it is to get it converted to LTF over mail?
Easy - if ur spends exceed Rs.1L or Rs.1.5L
Try this after 6 months of getting the card

Millennia is almost free even if taken paid you only have to pay GST as you get 1000 points on renewal.

Anyway I would suggest to take the FYF upgrade and then request them to convert it to LTF until renewal, LTF conversion is easier than LTF upgrade

Do they offer 1000 points on paying renewal fee for Millennia nowadays?
I just checked their T&C and it seems they mentioned there will be no cashpoints for renewal fee payment.
Can you please confirm this?

Waiting for ltf and taking fyf both r good options

I've gone through both ways in the past

I'd suggest u wait for LTF option to come usually it happens

Or

Take the fyf upgrade and fight for LTF conversion after spending 1 lakh then they might consider ur request

Keep it simple, even if u don't spend 1 L in a yr u get 1000 points as renewal benefit

Ohhh wasn't aware of this may be a recent change, previously they used to
Would you say it's worth it to lose the LTF moneyback+ for the FYF Millennia (with the hope that it can be converted to LTF some day)?
The effective cashback on Moneyback+ on Amazon/Flipkart would be 3.3% while millennia is 5%. And on others, it's 0.33% for Moneyback+ and 1% for Millennia. Every objective calculation says go for Millennia (if not for the annual fee)😅

They were saying they don't offer LTF upgrades (saying it's some bank policy or something) and that all upgrades are FYF only. Is it really possible to get LTF upgrade if I wait? Or would I lose the current FYF upgrade also?

The RM swore they never give LTF upgrades. When I asked if I might be able to get it converted to LTF, he straight away said no, and said better would be too close and reapply.

I was also in the same boat as of yours, maybe mine situation was even worse.
Firstly I got 50k pre approved offer wanted Millennia but only option available was MB+, branch said will get upgrade offer in 6 months so applied.
Regularly requested bank for LE or upgrade after completing 6 months but of no use they didnt budge as min limit quoted for millennia was 1L.
Litreally I started begging for millennia.

Then after 2.5 Yrs got LE from 50k to 2.4L and an hope arose to get millennia. To my luck next month after LE got an LTF upgrade offer from the bank, it was like dream come true.

As this was my 1st card option of closing the card and reapplying was also not an option.

I was ready to get it even at paid pricing. You can easily cover up the fees with 20K spends on Amazon.

Personally speaking I would have gone ahead with FYF offer and the kept fighting for LTF conversion. They will easily convert. Write some proper mails via appropriate channels.
I got my LTF Tata Nue Plus upgraded to Infinity LTF directly via email.

They were saying they don't offer LTF upgrades (saying it's some bank policy or something) and that all upgrades are FYF only. Is it really possible to get LTF upgrade if I wait? Or would I lose the current FYF upgrade also?
It's Not True, HDFC offers pre Approved LTF Upgrades but does not allow Manual LTF upgrade requests(very less likely)

You have pre pre-approved FYF Millennia upgrade so if u wait for some more days they might offer you LTF upgrade
Like I said before it totally depends, they may or may not offer LTF to all

if you don't want to take the risk upgrade ur card -> spend Rs.1 Lakh -> send an email for LTF conversion

or Take a Risk and wait for a few more days/months -
My Advice

My Experiences:
I had FYF TNI and I manually requested for LTF Millennia upgrade recently, they denied it and said LTF upgrade was not possible they could process FYF Millennia
I've taken FYF Millennia cc

My mother had Millennia LTF(earlier FYF - converted to LTF via email request) she got an FYF RG upgrade offer 2 months ago we took a risk and waited for LTF
Fortunately, after a month, the same offer was refreshed to LTF RG

if your query is resolved Mark this as the solution.

Yeah, that's a classic case of sneaky terms and conditions! 😅 They highlight "welcome/renewal benefit" as 1000 CashPoints, but then quietly slip in that no CashPoints are awarded on the renewal fee payment. HDFC loves playing with words in their T&Cs!

It would have been clearer if they explicitly mentioned "Welcome Benefit: 1000 CashPoints (not applicable on renewal fee payment)" instead of misleading users.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I'll wait for a few days and go for the upgrade if the offer is not refreshed to LTF.
Now starts the battle😅.
I dont think u ll get ltf offer in few days. It will be after few months. 1st dis offer will expire den u ll get or may nt get ltf offer. Better take this card. Its very easy to convert to ltf in hdfc n sbi later if u use card. U just need to send a single mail.

Get the millennia FYF card and just keep pushing for LTF, i converted 3 of my hdfc cards to LTF.

Moneyback+
Swiggy
Tata neu plus

Honestly i feel swiggy is better than millennia (sbi cashback is better than both). Moneyback+ gives 3.3% in flipkart. I don't get why so many people hate moneyback+.

I too have the same problem. Couldn't get upgraded to Millennia from MB+ as I have no relationship with HDFC. So I went for SBI CASHBACK.
