Samsung S25 Ultra Thread - Purchase Decision and Features Discussion

Ordered S25 Ultra @48k after exchanging iPhone 11.
It's neither realistic nor legal.

I have over 10 years of experience buying, selling, and exchanging Samsung phones for new ones. It is simply not possible that you would get such a huge discount by exchanging an iPhone 11. The maximum discount available is ₹75,000, and that too only if you exchange a Samsung S24 Ultra, an iPhone 15 Pro Max, or a Samsung Z Fold 6. No other phone will ever get you that high a discount.

Moreover, upgrading from a flagship phone that is only a year old doesn’t make much sense. Ideally, you should upgrade after at least two years—for example, upgrading from a Samsung S23 Ultra to an S25 Ultra would give you a noticeable improvement. In my opinion, if you're spending such a large amount on a phone, it's best to exchange it only after three years. That way, you'll get a good resale value and experience a meaningful upgrade.

Now, regarding your deal, it is possible only under two conditions:

  1. Staff-only discount – This is an exclusive benefit given only to senior employees, such as senior engineers or high-ranking staff members. In this case, they might be using their staff quota to offer you the discount. However, you won’t be able to claim GST benefits on this purchase—you can confirm this with them if you want.
  2. Sample or test device – These are pre-release units provided to senior employees for testing before launch. It is possible that they are offering you a sample piece. However, in this case, you won’t be able to resell the phone later.

Both of these options are illegal. If they are risking their job just to give you a ₹10,000-₹15,000 discount, it doesn’t seem like a wise decision.

I am a hardcore Samsung fan and have deep knowledge of Samsung products and their services. If there is any other legal way to get such a discount, I would love to know—with proof—so that I too can upgrade my phone at a lower price in the future. However, based on my knowledge and insider information from a senior Samsung employee, no legal method exists for such a deal.

If there is something I am missing, I would be happy to learn about it. In any case, once the phone is in your hands, do share an update about the final price you paid and how you got the deal.

Using iphone 14 pro, giving that phone to family member.. should I switch to s25 ultra or iphone 16 pro?

S25 ultra seems larger to me, but thinking choosing keeping one iphone and one samsung will be good.

Anyone have any suggestions on moving iphone to samsung?

If you are stuck or enjoying iOS ecosystem you can always stay with Apple. If you can manage your data transfer b/w both devices you can consider Samsung S25 Ultra

My old phone’s screen suddenly stopped working. Need to buy a phone, S25 Ultra is my choice. What’s the best way to buy this? What’s the price in Dubai or Vietnam or is it available at any duty free in India? Thanks in Advance.

S25U retailing at 5099 AED with some exchange offers in Dubai. That translates to ₹121000 without any exchange offers. Offline retailers might offer better discounts in Dubai too. Duty free I guess it will not be available.

If I use the HDFC offer, I will get it at ₹1.22 lakhs here in India, so probably it’s better in India then. Will visit various shops near me to check out. It’s an unexpected expense which I have to do. 🥲 Was happily using Mi 11 Ultra until suddenly on 31st January, it’s screen stopped working. Display is costing 30k which made me go towards Samsung because atleast Samsung is good brand in terms of quality.

Ok one silly question, I may be cooked but asking anyway
How r people getting interest to buy mobiles above 1L?
1. Its a depreciating asset surely
2. For any repair/screen damage, it costs above 10k easily
3. If lost, whole money will be gone assuming no insurance

Mobile purchases has become a lifestyle spend, and it’s becoming a habit.
1. Its a depreciating asset surely
Yes, even cars. If we look at that way we can’t enjoy the life.
2. For any repair/screen damage, it costs above 10k easily
Rarely happens with high end mobiles, but if happens yes.
3. If lost, whole money will be gone assuming no insurance
If lost anything is lost, No insurance.

Yes, I ordered it from Samsung's official website. Out of the four accessories, two have already been delivered today. The phone has also been shipped and will most likely arrive tomorrow or, at the latest, the day after.
