SBI Cashback - Nodal Officer denied CB on EaseMyTrip

Hi TF Community,

On 26-05-23, I did a flight booking transaction via EaseMyTrip. I was casually checking the SBICard app after 3 days and noticed the CB hasn't been credited for the transaction. I immediately opened up a ticket. For 3-5 days, they kept telling me the transaction is not settled.

I escalted it later and asked them if the transaction is settled. I also asked for the MCC code to which they replied this:

Moreover, On calls these SBI representatives were telling me that you'll get the CB 2 days after statement generation. I guess they were lying too.
In my last reply to nodal officer, I shared the screenshot of EMT that shows that it's a flight transaction.

What are the options left for me? I'm ready to take it upto RBI Ombusdman level.

Complaining to RBI won't help because the MCC is under excluded category.

Kitni txns ke liye RBI complaint karoge.

If txn is eligible as per SBI Tncs then you can go head

That Txn is tagged under Railway MCC and Hence txn is not eligible as per SBI Tncs and even if you raise the Complaint with RBI BO , SBI can close the Case easily

Ek txn ke liye kya pta SBI credit kar bhi de as a one time goodwill gesture.

So stop using it and shift to other Cards

Best way to book flight ticket is searching through Skyscanner. Go to Cleartrip link. Then pay via Axis Flipkart card to get 4% cashback.
I think Kotak myntra credit card will also give 5% cashback on Cleartrip.

So, You are saying that one should check these threads while proceeding with a transaction?

See the point here is that it's a completely legit transaction for flight booking. MCC is one thing but if SBICards is promising something, they can't just run away saying this transaction is not eligible.

Log karenge tabhi to hoga. SBI ne flight ko railway se tag Kia to customer kyu nuksan jhelega?

Understood that they can close this easily and I know that already. But, this is a legit transaction so it's our right to ask for the CB as per their TnCs.

SBI ne railway m classify nhi kiya.

Merchant hi Railway MCC use kar raha hai , Flight Bookings ke liye.

Merchant is at fault not SBI.

Merchant ne SBI ko Railway MCC share kiya toh issme SBI kya karega.
SBI toh usko Railway Booking hi consider karega.

Instead of fighting with SBI, Fight with Merchant and ask them to use correct MCC

Sir, End Consumer ko ye MCC thodi hi pta hai. Duniya TechnoFino forum se aage bhi to hai.

Merchant will never ever accept their mistake for cashback not getting credited. Also, same merchant shares different MCC to different banks. Don't you think bank has atleast some role in classification there? Merchant k paas itna time thodi hoga ki har bank ko alg alg share krte rhega.
 
Can we do something now? If not, I will close this card, its become useless now.
SBI has become very selective now. So many categories have been excluded. If you're getting value then only keep it, otherwise there are other cards in the market.

Just that you've to use multiple cards but there will be atleast some sort of assurance for cashback.
 
Sir, then I think you have hard time understanding anything being conveyed to you 🤣 your complaint was about not receiving the CB and I simply pointed you to threads were people had similar experience 🤣

I posted a reply from Nodal officer and was asking for suggestions from others on what can be done now.

Pointing folks to a different thread won't help. There is no solution there.

It clearly shows that you haven't searched the forum. Like I said earlier, you are not the first person who have reported this, others have raised complaint with SBI and got the same reply and reason being MCC reported as Railway. I also shared another thread on how to identify MCC, if there was any chance, if the MCC was reported wrongly you could have pointed it out to them. Anyway, I am done explaining to you. ✌️
