SBI Cashback - Nodal Officer denied CB on EaseMyTrip

Hi TF Community,

On 26-05-23, I did a flight booking transaction via EaseMyTrip. I was casually checking the SBICard app after 3 days and noticed the CB hasn't been credited for the transaction. I immediately opened up a ticket. For 3-5 days, they kept telling me the transaction is not settled.

I escalted it later and asked them if the transaction is settled. I also asked for the MCC code to which they replied this:

Moreover, On calls these SBI representatives were telling me that you'll get the CB 2 days after statement generation. I guess they were lying too.
In my last reply to nodal officer, I shared the screenshot of EMT that shows that it's a flight transaction.

What are the options left for me? I'm ready to take it upto RBI Ombusdman level.
 
Easymytrip 0% cashback on SBI Cashback card.

After 1 month of waiting i get call from SBI card CS head office,
they told me that MCC not assign by them, its decided by network (VISA/RUPAY/Master) and merchant side, so they can't tell about MCC code.
i asked then which hotel and flight booking website is include 5% cashback, but they just told me they don't know about this, MCC code is not on their side.

thanks for this thread OP, can you please post the exact trail till you got your cashback? I am in a similar boat, my transaction got settled yesterday but no cashback!
Give it a day or two more. If the cashback is eligible, you will see it reflected. Otherwise, confirm the MCC, and if it is eligible, raise a complaint for the cashback. It's better to do your homework and gather evidence before challenging them.

Hi,
can you share Escalation Head personal ID with me? I made a transaction worth 84K for a television and they tagged it as a utility payment. I escalated mine to Nodal officer and as per him, that transaction isn't eligible for cashback.
 
This has to be taken up at the merchant level. EMT is a big problem here. My flight ticket booking was tagged as insurance when payed through RBL card and I didn't get reward points. EMT needs to sort their game out...
 
Called SBI yesterday and asked for cashback amount breakdown. First level executive denied providing that, I had to threaten an RBI complaint and call was promptly escalated to next level. That officer was very patient and read out the cashback for each transaction. I discovered that they're not providing any cashback for Urban Company. I asked the MCC and the executive claimed even they don't know which category it comes under. Filed a complaint, let's see
