As mentioned on the forum earlier too, SBI stopped taking requests for changing the limit split between cards.

Today I called SBI for something and just asked them casually if they can help me move some limit from my simplyclick to cashback card and they just did it. So its still possible.

Got screwed big time.
I transferred the limit from my central cc to simplyclik and closed the central cc. Imagine what, they removed that transferred limit as well from my simply click and the limit reverted back to the inital limit of 10k. Sigh..
I'm done with SBI. Will close simply click as well now.
So anyone who's planning to close SBI cards are limit transfer, please dont do it as you'll loose the limit as well.
Very sad to hear. You should have waited for a couple of months..
Thanks for the heads up though

Should have waited atleast till statement generation.

Now ask SBI to reactivate the closed card, they will do by doing verification.

Can you give the time frame of when the limit was transferred and after how long you closed the Central card? And how long they took to revert to the old limit?

I transfered around 1.5L to Cashback card a few weeks ago and I'm planning to close the older card shortly because its discontinued, they have sent me SimplySave automatically, which I don't need.

Suggestion Requested!!
I have Cashback card (limit 1.62L) & SBI FBB card (limit 40k). Cashback card spend is 1L monthly, while FBB card is getting maxed out every 2nd month due to low limit.

Now how much limit should I transfer from Cashback card to FBB card to balance utilisation ratio of Cashback card maintain usability of FBB card??

Why are you even using FBB card, its discontinued? There are no rewards for it, better get any other card from them.

You should have already got a free upgrade to SimplySave?

I have an SBI Simply Click. Took the Cashback Card, and it seems they will split the limit. I had explicitly asked them on call not to do so. Executive lied. I will be closing this card as there is no point in paying 999 for a pathetic limit and especially when lied to.

So, what is the correct procedure to get my limit restored on the Simply Click and close this Cashback card?

1. What happens if I do not activate the card upon receiving?
2. How soon can I call them about it?

I had even sent an email to SBI 2 days ago stating clearly not to issue me the card if they were deciding to split the limit. Today, I see my Simply Click limit reduced by INR 20,000. While I do not yet see a Cashback credit card, I think this is most likely the reason. They could have simply reduced my credit limit, too, though. Unsure until they inform me of anything to any effect. But, still.

If indeed this limit reduction has something to do with issuance of Cashback credit card, how do I go about closing this card and getting my original limit back to Simply Click?

Card limit split happened around 20 dec2023. Closure on 4 dec 2024. The limits reverted the moment they closed the card. So if you want the split limits to stay, do not xlose that card.

This is what I am wary of right now. They seem to have split the limit of my Simply Click to accommodate Cashback credit card, and if I close that card, maybe the 20k limit is gone. If I do not, I pay 1.2k a year. I wonder if we could write to RBI ombudsman about it, as I clearly sent an email to them not to process the card if they were deciding on splitting the limit instead of giving a separate limit. That email has so far not been responded to.

Maybe ill close the simplyclick as well and then freshly apply for cb card. That way i might get a better limit

IMO keep the Cashback card, its worth it (even with the super low CL they've given to you). You can easily recover the cost in a month of usage. This card gives you really good cash back for online usage.

LE can be requested later after 6months or you can try swapping, if there is a decent limit on the other card.

Incase you dont want the card, you can choose to not activate it, it should get automatically closed after 30 days as per RBI guidelines.

Most of them receiving SBI Cashback card have been getting pretty low CL (due to its popularity, I guess), I was approved 54k initially but managed to get quite decent cashback in the last few months and for me this card is totally worth it. Fortunately, I could transfer limit off the old card and it helped me get even more cash back.

Ok guys..
Im totally confused, but in a good way.
I did get my splitted limit removed from my sbi simplyclick card when i canacelled the central select card. And today when i opened the sbicard app, all that limit has come back. So im happy now to have 1 paod card of abi with all the limit transferred off from the other card.

Hey, this is good! You were able to get the limit restored on the old card! How did you go about it, please elaborate in detail once again, for good measure? I am trying to get the same thing done.

Yes, I am considering this. Only question is, if I do not activate the card, and the card automatically closes, what happens to the limit that was taken out from my original card?

You should be able to restore its limit in that case, similar to how others here have reported to have gotten their old card limit transferred to the new one after closure. I don't see why they wouldn't restore it, especially when the limit was reduced from the primary card to begin with. If the primary card is old, it should be quite easy for you.

But its quite strange they took limit off your primary card to begin with, I would wait for a while before initiating any action. Sometimes there could be technical glitches.

Oh yes, so far what I see is only a 20k limit reduction on the primary/ only card. No second card has been added to account yet. So, it is also entirely possible that a limit reduction coincided with my application for a new card. I will not initiate any action just yet, I still have 30 days from card receiving, if I receive it in the first place.

Card is 6 years old.

For me the first customer care via phone lady refused to move limit from cashback card 48k to bpcl card (older card-32k) saying limit can't be transferred from high limit card to low limit card; so, ended up the call. Next, I tried live chat support in App, and successfully transferred limit from CB card to Bpcl via live chat itself.

Cashback card approved and visible in app. Limit is 20k, scooped out of my Simply Click. I’m concerned if I transfer all from Simply Click and close Simply Click, would that still be alright or would I suddenly lose over 2 lakh limit..

Anyway, I want to consolidate the portfolio and make room for Infinia. So, I might Simply Close (TM) both cards. Simply Click isn’t seeing much use anyway and no point paying 499 plus tax on it.

I was able to close SimplySave today (auto upgraded card) and transfer all its remaining limit to Cashback card without issues, current CL around 2.5L on Cashback as of now.

My primary card was over 5+ years though, so I'm not sure if that matters.
