Rewards

The BPCL SBI credit card OCTANE has a 6.25% reward rate for all BPCL spends including Bharat Gas spends. Other than this, it also gives good rewards for Dining, Departmental Stores, Grocery & Movies category spends. This makes it easy to achieve the required spends for an annual fee waiver.

TYPE OF SPENDREWARD POINTSRETURN
BPCL Fuel, Lubricants & Bharat Gas Spends25 RP per Rs 100
*Maximum 2500 RP per billing cycle
* Rs 4000 Max transaction value for rewards
* 1% fuel surcharge waiver
6.25%
Dining, Departmental Stores, Grocery & Movies10 RP per Rs 100

*Maximum 7500 RP per month
2.5%
Other spends (Except Non-BPCL Fuel and Wallets)1 reward point per Rs 1000.25%

The monthly transaction value to hit the max cap of accelerated fuel rewards would be Rs 10,000. This should be more than enough for most people. We can also spend on other categories like Departmental Stores and Grocery to reach the annual fee waiver. The 2.5% value back on these is also pretty good.

Milestone Rewards

Spend Rs 2 Lakhs to get the annual fee waiver and get maximum rewards on fuel transactions.
  • Rs 2000 gift voucher on Rs 3 Lakhs spend in a membership year (0.67% Return)
  • Gift voucher options: Aditya Birla Fashion, Yatra, Urban Ladder, Hush Puppies, and Bata

I got my BPCL octane delivered today after almost 11 days. Its a Visa variant, immediately requested customer support for rupay conversion. They took the request. Hope rupay gives rewards on fuel swipes smoothly and then 2.5% on grocery and dining via UPI.

In this for fuel spent you won't need to pay GST & Physcial card should be present with u for tap & pay....I am using BPCL rupay CC (basic) in that no GST is charged for fuel spends as it's rupay cc....(for visa gst is charged so CB is below 6.25% for Octane visa) for rupay CB is 6.25% as no gst is charged (gst is charged in visa & it's won't reversed)...

Note:- for fuel rewards stay away from fuel upi transactions as they won't earn reward points of 25X & not eligible for 1% fuel surcharge waiver.
Is there any minimum fuel spend amount for gst not to be charged on surcharge?

The fuel surcharge and GST are both charged initially. However, only the surcharge is reversed; the GST will not be reversed. The GST amount is 18% of the fuel surcharge, which itself is 1% of the total fuel spend. So, if you spend Rs. 500 on fuel, the surcharge will be Rs. 5, and the GST will be Rs. 0.9. This amount is minimal and should not be a concern when you're receiving Rs. 32.25 as cashback.

But one thing I have observed. I bought petrol worth 2500 and 200 for my car and scooter respectively. There was surcharge + gst charged on 2500 but only 1% surcharge charged on 200 txn, i.e no GST on the smaller txn amount. Not sure why it is so, but thats what I observed twice. Mine is Rupay variant of octane.

Yes, they aren't charging GST on RUPAY variants.
But as we have already seen there are lots of Twitter Rats roaming here and there, this will also one day get recognised by SBICard and they will start charging GST 🤙🤙

They charge gst for small amount also. Maybe it varies from pump to pump. I purchased 270 rs petrol from bpcl non listed (of e voucher pdf) petrol pump and they charged it. IMG-20240829-WA0003.webp Screenshot_20240905-115948_SBI Card.webp

Has anyone tried redeeming points for fuel at BPCL via POS redemption on add-on card? Does it need primary card for redemption?
Yes, I have always use the Add-on card and have never faced issue with it. Its upto the Fuel station sometimes they will just decline saying that the machine is not working. Most of the times they do it without any questions.
