Choosing the Best UPI App in 2024

I'm writing to seek your assistance in choosing the best UPI app for my needs in 2024. With the vast array of options available, making an informed decision can be overwhelming.

I'm primarily looking for an app that excels in the following aspects:

  • User Interface: A clean, intuitive, and user-friendly interface that allows for quick and effortless navigation.
  • Offers: Attractive cashback, discounts, and rewards on UPI transactions, bill payments, recharges, etc.
  • Wallet Features: Robust wallet functionality with features like expense tracking, budget management, and investment options (if available).
  • Card Facilities: Seamless integration with credit and debit cards for payments, recharges, and bill payments.
  • App Performance: Smooth and lag-free experience with appealing animations (if used tastefully).
  • Overall Experience: A positive and enjoyable experience that exceeds expectations across all features mentioned above.

To provide some context, I typically use Payzapp for UPI payments. However, I'm open to exploring new options that offer a better overall experience.
Additionally, if you could share any specific insights or tips on features, functionality, or hidden gems I may have missed, it would be incredibly helpful.

My question is "What's wrong with Google Pay?" After all isn't it the most popular app? Generally people say "You can GPay me" or "I'll GPay you" instead of saying "I'll pay you or you can pay me via UPI".
It’s not like it has something wrong. It just has a few issues - First, they force mail as upi id and doesn’t allow to edit it (a lot of people like custom upi id) Also, one issue I personally noticed - it sometimes just doesn’t show my Rupay CC as payment option (even for a merchant who I paid with rupay CC two days back with gpay itself)

Could it be that the merchant realised he had to pay charges for RuPay and decided to switch the option off?

I agree with you .. it is easy to use and all the transactions can be tracked easily .
One can use another upi app as backup when gpay shows any problem.
I personally like Amazon pay and gpay .

Most of the merchants/shopkeepers are NOT aware that below 2K UPI trxns done on RuPay CCs are free of any charges.

In Tirupati, in our neighbourhood, I personally educated a few of them (from whom I buy items quite often) n all of them since then have started accepting RuPay CC payments. I rarely spend more than 1K.

It's a one time effort worth spending time with such petty shopkeepers n small merchants.

linked with gmail account/ cannot have custom UPI ID, Interface is not that great, too cluttered for me. takes convenience fee/platform charge for recharge and stuff

I was using PayTM before GPay. Both were linked to my HDFC NRE savings account. I could not receive any money. Only payments were possible. GPay I managed to change the account to my NRO savings. Also added a RuPay card. Today reactivated my PayTM. I'm not able to change my default account to my NRO savings. Also no option to add a RuPay Card.
