Steps for getting invite for RBL Zomato Edition CC

Initially I heard from a youtuber that I can request the bank for the card but even he was not sure about the approach.

Step 1: I posted a tweet tagging RBL bank and RBL care team that I am interested in their Zomato Edition Card. The bank replied that it is invite based card and wait for the invite to get the card.

Step 2: I noticed a reply from Edition team, which I suppose is the official account by Zomato to DM them my registered phone and email address. Initially I ignored the reply since it was already deferred by the banking partner. But, then I thought of giving it a try and replied to Edition team with my details on DM.

Step 3: Exactly after 4 days of providing my zomato account details the Edition team reverted back and asked me check my Zomato account after 24-48 hours for the invite. This morning when I checked my Zomato app, I saw the invite visible in Money tab.

Step 4: Just provided my PAN details in the Zomato app and within 2 minutes my Credit Limit was displayed. I completed my KYC with the bank and within 30 minutes received mail that my virtual card is active to use.

I have tried my best to jot down the steps and all the necessary things which I did to get the card. Please feel free to ask thing regarding the same. I will be more than happy to help.

Here's what I think:

RBL Support is totally noob and doesn't even understand the exact queries of their customers. They do not have the proper information regarding what is allowed what is not allowed.

Don't fall for their claims. Those aren't true.

They even said the same to me and another guy Sidhanta Sahu, he also reached out to RBL support, and hearing the same info, he applied and got rejected. Afterwards when he reached out to RBL, they saying your card is declined due to internal policies we cannot help out etc etc.

Here's the truth (or better to say, the 'reality' that people have experienced)

1. If you have existing RBL CC (excluding Bajaj Supercards, I am talking about main RBL cc), then your next RBL CC Application will be rejected. This is verified, confirmed. Even happened for @TechnoFino and many many other members.

2. Yes, some people do have both RBL CC and Zomato CC together. For example @ashankgaurav has said he has got RBL POD cc and within 10 days he applied for RBL Zomato cc and he got both approved. Although this is promising input, I have two conclusions to make from here:

A. The no of people getting rejected having existing rbl cc is just too high, more than 90% of the incidents I have heard or seen.
B. This may be a RBL Bug also, maybe RBL didn't save his records to their entry yet, as the card was just recently applied 10 days back and he also said both got delivered at the same time. So, it may also be considered as an exception.

Opinions are personal. Rest you guys can try out and update here. It will be helpful.

Totally agree with your logical conclusion here.
It is definitely the case where the recently applied card was not updated in their database neither to Credit Bureaus.
I'm concerned over the enquiry though, how the 2nd application got away with it?
Cause enquiry will be there within the next moment and I dont know how these enquiry policies work with different banks man!
I faced rejections because of multiple enquiries and I read lads here applying for 12 cards within a year and get approved for all of them.
I wish someone could just explain more with this enquiry policies of bank here.

I too got invite after DM via twitter, but very reluctant to apply ,I don’t want to waste one hard enquiry on my cibil, can anyone tell how long this invite exist in app?

Here is my CIBIL report (1 month old, I did get 2-3 more inquiries within this period). My current CIBIL is 772.
You can check the inquiry amount each bank does. RBL does only 1k amount inquiry. It is NOT a hard inquiry and won't impact your CIBIL. However if you have recent CIBIL inquiries from others then don't apply. It may be declined.

PS: IDFC Rejected. Rest approved (eventually, after initial rejections but those were not due to cibil, it was due to job location verification etc errors) till now.

Here's a general update, that we verified after calling RBL CC multiple times:

Those holding existing RBL Credit Cards (except Bajaj Supercards) cannot take RBL Zomato CC unless:

1. Bank offers upgrade manually. (which is very hard right now)
2. You close existing cc and reapply.

In case you close existing RBL cc, you need to wait 90 days (cooldown period) after getting the No Dues certificate, before re-applying Zomato CC from Zomato App. Same happens if you get declined for RBL Zomato CC. 90 Days Cooldown period.

If you apply before the cooldown period is over it will be declined.

Now its up to you what you wanna do. 😅😅😅

PS: Maybe in future RBL Zomato CC will be opened up for regular RBL CC users also, we don’t know. However, for now, it can only be applied via the Zomato Application, or if RBL Bank offers the upgrade manually.

@Subhankar001 you got any update from your side?

I too faced same. Customer support told that my pan couldn't verify that's why immediate rejection. But I can see a cibil pull from RBL. I send the screenshot of that to zomato care. Yet to receive any further reply.
Initially zomato care was telling there was a technical glitch, I can try after 24 hours. But nothing happened
my application got rejected as well with same error, couldn't fetch pan details not sure the reason already have 10+ cards and no RBL card yet

Thanks for sharing the details. Please allow us to inform you that the approval of an application is completely handled by the bank and Zomato helds no role in the same. The same is done as per the banks credit policy. While we don't have access to details of the policy itself, we understand that it takes into account all information on your credit report along with the score. Please don't get disheartened for the same. We have noted down your interest in the Edition Card and hope to extend you the invite again if/when you become eligible for the same.

@nirsark FYI: RBL did save my records and reported to CIBIL on 10th and 23rd of March respectively for POD and Edition cards. So, the only conclusion which comes to my mind is that it's an exception or maybe I got lucky.😁

Brother, can I ask for some info:

1. Which was approved first? POD earlier, then Zomato?
2. What are your cc limits for both (tell approx if you don't want to tell exact)? (mine POD Limit is 2.25L)
3. Are both limits shared or separate?
1. POD was approved first and then Zomato one
2. The limit for both the cards are 2.38L
3. I am not sure that if the limits are shared or separate. Need to use once to confirm.

I have shoplite already, applied for Zomato classic and it got rejected instantly. Zomato is saying it got declined coz of bank policy. Is there anyway I can apply it again or get an upgrade?

Hi I just completed in-person KYC for the card. Zomato app says "Aadhaar data did not match. Our partner bank is reviewing your application. This usually takes 1-2 working days".

Did anyone else experience this? What can I expect next?

FYI I updated my aadhaar info in January this year. Maybe this is due to that.

Okay here’s what I got from RBL Bank. They denied upgrading my existing RBL POD CC to Zomato.

So I have asked them to cancel my RBL POD CC.

I know it will take some time (100+ days) before I can apply for this cc however I can wait. Lifetime Free Zomato Pro subscription is something I don’t wanna miss. Good things come to those who wait lol. 🤣

Btw, if they launches RBL Edition Black CC by then it would be awesome. 😀

Let’s see. ✌️

PS: There might be another possibility of RBL offering Zomato CC upgrades directly to existing CC users (similar to Flipkart Axis), but as of now no clarity on that.

Thank you.

Update: Seems like application got processed after all since the status on app is now "Finalising your card details. This might take a couple of hours".

Also, can anyone tell me how much does a Zomato pro user need to pay extra to get Pro plus membership???
