Now, you can get the Wealth Card easily. Based on my recent experience I got Upgraded to Wealth within 9 months.
Millenia (Jan 24) -> Upgraded to Select (June 24) Based on Select Account -> Got Ashva & Mayura(Aug 24) -> Upgraded to Wealth (Sept 24)
So, if you don't get the Wealth Card on the first chance don't worry you can easily upgrade your card.

Yes, that's the general rule.
My Select Banking helped me with the Select card "Upgrade without LE"

Yes, just get any variant card if you just want an IDFC card in your wallet.
The rewards rate is the same only difference is Lounge access, spa and movie ticket benefits.
Something funny happened recently,
I was reconsidering my card collection and decided to close down my IDFC Select with 3.63L along with a bunch of other cards,
So i just gave a closure request on app and waited for the call
When i got the call from retention team few days later, i wasn't expecting much, she asked me why, i said no use, i thought she'll offer some points which I'll deny,
But then suddenly she said I'll upgrade you wealth on your current limit, i told her I've called and emailed for the same twice late last yr abd early this yr to no avail, she said that's the customer care, we're the retention team, we can do it right away, you'll have the card in 7 days,
I was skeptical went ahead anyways thinking what's the harm
Cut to today morning when i received an sms and a email saying my upgrade request has been closed,
at first i was bit agitated but when i check IDFC app, wealth card showed up
Now i know it's a pretty much useless card, i might end up closing this one as well few months later, but for now I'm gonna give a try

I got it easy by getting a wealth account, then you can apply for any credit card which they will convert to wealth after 3 months.
But yeah wealth account will need you to park 10 lakhs i guess for a month to your savings account and a push from your RM's. This happens easily around year closing though 😉

After wealth got devalued, they are giving it left right and center. What is the use of this card after so much devaluation?

You get some other good card.
If you really need wealth, contact this guy - he is from kochi, kerala, head of credit cards business,
I got through him. Tell him clearly you need wealth.
He will just enter some random income like 3L per month. There is no verification and all.
Directly you will get the card. I will DM you his number.

Wish i knew this before! xD. But anyway i keep this card for free roadside assistance and 500 Rupees BOGO ! So cant complaint!

Pls DM me his number. I already have 3 Wealth Accounts in my family for more than a year and still didnt receive first wealth credit card. Stuck with First select. Pls pls give me his contact.
