Too many UPI apps which one do you use - why its better

I started using UPI only lately, as tracking was messy with UPI for me . But now in the market there are lot of apps - clueless on which one to use.
I currently use the one provided by my savings back (icici) - yes is provides any name as label for upi id

Then used flipkart UPI linked to my UPI credit card - by default it pickedup my mobile number as label for upi id . But most transactions linked to creditcard fail as merchant is denying credit card based UPIs for me.

I have not used any other app to link my savings bank account for UPI transactions.

Any recommendations for a good UPI app which can offer cashbacks and not bloatware.

complaints at all. On a few occasions, even the IPO payments were made through this app (UPI mandate procedure). For UPI payments on other online sites, I have used this app quite often and it has worked flawlessly for me in all these 4-5 years. And I have not been spammed by any SMSes or any spam calls (with any inkling of or through PhonePe).

So, this app meets almost all of my day-to-day requirements, with no hiccups. I am not looking for perfection in any app and so I am absolutely comfortable and happy with my experience of PhonePe.

Based on my excellent experience, I strongly recommend this app to you. You can check out its features, use it for a few weeks and then take your own call.

You can also see this reddit thread here for some more perspectives and insights on PhonePe app.

Hope this helps. 🙂
Sir,
Have you found Set AutoPay issue/as default option for accepting mandate for IPO !!

Have you found Set AutoPay issue/as default option for accepting mandate for IPO !!
Whenever I apply for any IPO (through Zerodha Kite app), I get an SMS like "XXX Ltd has sent you an AutoPay request for up to Rs YYY. Click to approve this request now: https://phone.pe/PHONPE/abcdefg" corresponding to the amount for which I had applied for) within a few minutes after the bid, from PhonePe (CP-PHONPE-S) with a given link. Then I click on the link and the PhonePe app opens with the autopay mandate, which I accept. If there is no IPO allotment, no money is deducted from my bank account (linked to the Zerodha Kite account), and the autopay mandate expires in 1-2 days. If there is an allotment, a corresponding amount is deducted from my bank account and the shares are credited to my demat account. This is the procedure that I have been following. I prefer it this way as the control for each IPO bid payment is retained with me. So, even after the bid, if I feel that I should not apply, I have 5-10 minutes to mull over and click the link in the SMS or otherwise.

So, in a way, yes, I do set-up the autopay mandate through PhonePe for IPO bids and subsequent allotments, as enunciated above.

Hope this helps. 🙂

The term PhonePe is using presently is not the Correct One.."AutoPay"
It's already working on Funds Block Mechanism.

Mechanism...of real AutoPay Mandate for UPI IPO is coming...

I use Paytm for all UPI transactions and gpay for credit card tap n pay. Paytm provides custom upi id. Initially app will be cumbersome. Once we have used it for sometime we will like it. View history, pay again feature, marchant categorisation, filters, tagging and expense tracker are good. Cashback will be tied credit cards and almost all UPI apps will be giving some scratch card and 0.1 % cashback

My problem with Gpay is you can't receive Payment if you app is uninstalled and no email notification for transaction.

PhonePe solves these problems for me. So right now I used PhonePe instead of Gpay. (I was a very early user from Tez Days)

this is the best combination and i also use the same...I stopped using paytm last year when custom upi id was removed but now it is back and i shifted back to paytm

Paytm for P2M payments - Custom VPA, UPI Lite, Best logs and search functionality. On my private phone number.
Freecharge for P2P payments - Single+Custom VPA, Better logs and search functionality. On my public phone number.
PhonePe for specific accounts - All accounts which require their own Custom VPA's. Good logs and search functionality.

I will switch from Freecharge to Gpay if they enable custom VPAs. Till then, freecharge for P2P.

Personal choice -
Mobikwik/Bhim - for CC UPI - clean and minimal UI
Amazon pay - for Bank UPI - all in one, no need to install an extra app.

I dont like -

GPay - worst UI
Paytm/PhonePay - all clutter, try to sell everything on app.
But Apay fails to open in a low network zone. That's the only thing stopping me to use it over paytm

Most of my UPI spends are through rupay credit card, and I use Tata Neu app for UPI payments. My Tata Neu infinity Rupay credit card is linked to it and I get 1.5% neu coins. (There is a minimum transaction limit, but most times, my UPI amounts are more than Rs 70-80)
Now a days many merchants have disabled UPI on CC, so I try to swipe the card on POS as much as possible.
Backup apps are Google Pay and Paytm.

But I think that's better because you can ask others to send money to whatever account you want, based on different UPI IDs.
Maybe useful to few...You cannot remember so many upi id's....even if i need multiple upi id, i will create using different apps and then uninstall the app...Example, my upi id is abc@icici for icici account, abc@ptyes for hdfc account, abc@upi for axis account and abc@yespay for indusind account which is more simple and easy in my opinion rather remembering abc-1@axl, abc-2@axl and so on

In 99.99% cases, My requirement is single upi id for multiple accounts which is beautifully done by paytm...Even if i need to receive money in different account, i make that account as primary account in upi id before receiving payment which hardly takes few secsa....

Here is what I do -
My ICICI Id is like ABCic@ybl,
My HDFC Id is like ABChd@ybl and so on.
I find it way more convenient. But yes, to each its own.

One more reason to use paytm is gift cards...they offer best discount and also allow payment of gift card using rupay credit cards so it means double discount i.e. discount on gift card and reward point on rupay credit card

Lastly, their bill payment offer disounts on indusind debit card once per month, which is useful
