Union Bank of India RuPay Select Debit Card - How to get?

sahil1033

TF Premier
I'm looking to get the cheapest possible RuPay Select debit card since my Amazon Prime membership has expired and I need it as soon as possible.

I was earlier looking to get PNB RuPay Select debit card but when I found that w.e.f. 5th June, 2023, annual charges has been increase from Rs. 500 + 18% GST to Rs. 750 + 18% GST, I'm not chasing it anymore.

Next option available for me is, change my Bank of Baroda Advantage Savings Account (Rs. 2k MAB) to Super Savings Account (Rs. 20k MAB) or Professional Savings Account (Rs. 25k MAB) and avail RuPay Select debit card as FYF and from second year onwards for Rs. 500 + 18% GST.

Another one is, opening a savings account with Union Bank of India which currently offers RuPay Select DC at lowest possible price for annual charge of Rs. 400 + 18% GST. My query is, which savings account variant should be opened to get the DC as from the following link, I can see only high MAB requirement account variants (Rs. 1 lac or more) show RuPay Select DC is available. Someone who has any experience with this, can throw some light on this please?

Union bank rupay select is only showing for applying in 1l amb hni account, can we open it and then after getting can we downgrade it to sbgen 1k mab variant?
Branch lady told me yes you can convert but card will be blocked or will not work after 1 or 2 months, the system will flag it?
Is this just for retaining hni status for bank or is it legit?

I've around an year to figure out how to map another RuPay Select DC with same mobile number and email address as I don't want to get another mobile number just for the sake of availing benefits from RuPay Select DC having different card number.

I hope RuPay implements this, that at one point of time, only one RuPay Select DC can be registered on the portal with same mobile number and email address but allows changing the current active card

There could be a genuine case that one lost his DC, gets it hotlisted and requests for another one ... then does RuPay expects that the consumer gets another mobile number to register on the portal for benefits?
I just got a Union Bank Rupay Select Debit Card by opening a USSA-2 account. Next, I was planning to get the Union JCB Wellness Rupay Select Credit Card. Will I get separate offers on both cards? For example, can I get 2 complimentary spa sessions in a year by first using Rupay Select Debit Card and then using Rupay Select Credit Card?

if you can get 2 RuPay Select debit cards, well and good but for a given mobile number and email address, you can actually register any of them only

so, you need 2 mobile numbers and email address

I'm not getting 2 Rupay Select DCs. My targetted cards are:
  1. A Rupay Select DC (Already received), and
  2. A Rupay Select CC [intended for UPI payments] (confused between Union JCB Wellness and HDFC Tata Neu Infinity).
Both CCs have a comparable base reward rate (1.5% for HDFC and 1% for Union). What differs them is:
  1. Rupay Select offers are only available on Union CC and not in HDFC CC.
  2. HDFC CC offers additional accelerated rewards for Tata brands. Union CC does not have additional offers.

My dilemma is that I don't shop much on the partner TATA brands and would instead prefer additional Rupay Select offers (to share with friends and family). But since I already have a Rupay Select DC (and I only own 1 phone number), will I also get complimentary offers if I opt for the Union Select CC? That way, I'll have twice the offers- UBI Rupay Select DC and Union JCB Wellness Rupay Select CC!

Thanks for the detailed clarification.

But I would like to know what additional benefits you're looking for from RuPay Select CC ??

Because from what I know, OTT offer isn't available for CC, it's only for DC. I could be wrong, want to know if there's any change in it.

Additional benefits? None. I want double the benefits. xD

According to Rupay, OTT is available for Select CCs. But according to another source (1st reply)... no.

Also, as of last night, only 12 months of Amazon and 6 months of Sony LIV complimentary subscriptions are available on the DC. I thought it had Hotstar as well. I wanted to watch Loki.

I called up Rupay, and they said you can add all your cards on the website and avail offers on all. The only requirement is that the BINs should be different.
And now Union Bank will not confirm whether my DC and CC BINs will be different.

Edit: All offers on the card.

In CCs, I've Bob RuPay Premier and Tata Neu Infinity RuPay HDFC Bank ... Tata Neu Infinity has specifically mentioned RuPay Select but I've no idea whether BoB RuPay Premier is RuPay Platinum/Select

Do you know if I can avail any offers using the above 2 mentioned CCs I'm holding?

You're right about Hotstar, it was showing when I got RuPay Select DC and after a day or two, it was gone, anyway, I had to redeem Amazon Prime (1 year) which I already did.

I think BOB Premier is a Classic variant. Usually, platinum and select are displayed on the card, and BOB doesn't show either.
Tata Neu is definitely a Select variant, but since it has offers on Tata brands, no Rupay offers are available. It would be too OP otherwise.

However, you can check your card eligibility if you try adding the cards on rupay.

If you already have an account created, you can also add cards on your profile.

PNB website shows that the Rupay Select Debit card charges are waived for PNB Elite schemes. Has that been overridden now?
