Union bank RuPay Unicorn Select Credit Card | Blinkit gv, Myntra gv, BMS, Free lounge, Swiggy, MMT 10% off Flight booking etc

It depends on the people—what benefits they want to take.
RuPay mainly targets those who cannot get Visa Signature or Visa Infinite cards or those who can’t get a credit card at all.
Many people in India use RuPay Scan & Score and are earning a good amount from it.

And people forget that Visa only started giving all these benefits after RuPay came to India. Otherwise, why would Visa bother giving offers? There was no competition.

When I say PSU bank, I mean this: if you start giving too many Visa cards to customers, upper management will scold the bank manager, and the bank manager will scold you. 🤣🤣 But it also depends on your area—whichever card network is being issued more across the branches in your state.

This has happened many times with some SBI employees because RuPay is the core network partner for PSU banks.

Similarly, for private banks — ICICI & Kotak have Visa as their core network partner, Axis and Yes Bank have Mastercard etc.
We (I mean UBI not PSUs) are the largest stakeholders in NPCI. It's our baby. It's success is our success. Doesn't means we won't look at alternative opportunities too. I would be happy if Rupay manages to shut Visa/Master/JCB/Diners/Amex/Discover from India.

Also regarding the rewards? Even before Rupay's birth, Visa and Master used to give handsome rewards of upto 5% back on base (OG Regalia prior to Infinia's launch circa 2004-2006), unlimited lounges worldwide, unlimited golf worldwide, partner hotels etc.

Please be humble and learn.

You are awesome. You are my favourite. But you are just a toddler who has a long way to go.

Please let me know when it's possible to apply online by you because I don't think it'll let us customers apply by ourselves online.
I can apply online but I won't do so till it's up in the site for public too. I have my reasons. Many staff have applied already. Many are applying.

should I open a zero balance union account in the meantime to be on the safe side ?

"if you start giving too many Visa cards to customers, upper management will scold the bank manager, and the bank manager will scold you"

As an employee when I demand Rupay cards for personal QR use, stupid upper management says to me "Visa le lo better offers hain. Rupay me kuch nahi hain " always. And I never scold any of the 408 branch managers who report to me for issuing whatever variant they want. No one cares. This is an infinitisimally small business and revenue generator for a bank whose revenues are upwards of 20 Billion USD and which ranks inside India's top 15 most profitable companies.

You have a wild imagination. Saw your tweets to NPCI. That's not how they roll. So you are just someone who wants to push Rupay because it's Indian? 😹

Are Discover and JCB Indian buddy?
That’s because overall, RuPay’s share is very high in PSU banks.

Total RuPay debit card issuance has a market share of 60% in India and some sources even say it has touched 80%.

RuPay credit card issuance share is between 25% to 33% and in transaction volume it has reached a 38% market share.

All this has happened mainly because of PSU banks. Even the NPCI CEO keeps saying that RuPay gets a lot of support from PSU partner banks.

What you’re talking about is just a small part. As soon as all PSU employees start issuing more Visa cards, Sab ki watt lagayega. 🤣🤣
Because the people who make decisions in PSU banks are clear that they want to push RuPay cards as much as possible.

And it’s not just about PSU banks — in private banks, the first priority is always given to Visa/Mastercard.

And that’s exactly why private banks don’t offer many strong benefits or offers on RuPay.

Lastly, things also change with time.

RuPay tried to get fintech companies to issue PSU bank RuPay credit cards but it turned out to be a huge failure.

Some fintech founders even said on LinkedIn that it was a stupid idea and that they faced a lot of problems.🤣🤣

So in the end, RuPay had to go to private banks for issuing RuPay cards for fintech companies.

With time, things change. This is just a baby step for RuPay’s partnership with private banks.

You can clearly see that RuPay is slowly trying to increase its market share in private bank and fintech co-branded cards.

RuPay isn’t focusing much on core cards from private banks, nor is it pushing banks directly. Instead, it’s focusing on fintech companies so that all their cards come on the RuPay network.

And before jumping the gun and applying for it, I would suggest people to wait for Nexteria to come first. I have been told it would be superior. Unicorn isn't going anywhere and we will be giving targets of 300000 branch issuances a week so basically everyone with 700 CIBIL, 5 lakh income and a Union savings account who bothers to apply for it and is willing to pay the fees will get it.
Yeah totally understandable.

Just contact me when it's listed on website please.

Got your point but it was just that when I wanted to apply divaa too the mechanism for applying online ourselves wasn't working we had to go to branch
Which month? You tried via Vyom or via site? Site won't work.

If you have Divaa (I am not eligible for it nor is our Chairman or MD CEO as unfortunately in India you can't "identify" as "female" by saying "she/her" unlike US 😹), you will get Unicorn.

Divaa is our most exclusive card. More exclusive than Unicorn or Nexteria on Ekaa. And pre Unicorn, Divas was also one of our top 3 best cards.

IMO right after Health and right before UniCarbon.

All out best cards hitherto were on Platinum not Select. And Health will still be ahead of Unicorn given all that it offers is more than what Unicorn does.

It was site (after which it did not work so I let it go honestly but my only option was branch that time)
even my vyom app is not working (I am not able to log in after sms verification)
🙁

Tried visiting branch they said they will have to apply dc to set vyom app right I did not understood their logic so asked them to remain as it is then

New vyom app is not working for anyone.

Even I don't understand the DC requirement for Vyom logic TBH. Aadhar authentication used to work. They jinxed it. My own account was locked out for days when I changed a SIM. And even our Chairman, MD CEOs accounts were locked out after the boneheaded change which everyone except the idiot GM looking after this and his lackeys wanted.

Abhi karke faayda nahi aa Vyom se bhi nahi hoga. Wait it out.

Does it require income proof or CIBIL surrogate will also work?

Why do you think Health still offers more than Unicorn? Maybe if just looking at the total benefit value that Union Bank says it offers, the Health card might be higher.

But I feel most of the benefits listed for the Health card is just for show and not actually useful for most users.

A lot of the Benefits on the Health cards are just video consult, which are usually not good.

Maybe I am missing something but I don't really see much value in it.
