Victim of wrong MCC code - Lost a significant amount of money due to surcharge

I am using iOS, here is the process..!
IDFC app--->credit card-->select transactions tab/slider (not the icon)--->click on individual transaction--->download receipt
I have highlighted the MCC code in the pic
I could not find this on android app. No way to download receipt.
Just showing transaction.

Update: Despite continuous follow ups, the dealer is not responding at all. Seems he did this on purpose. Phonepe (the acquiring bank) atleast responded and refunded me with only the fuel surcharge after more than a month long fight. But that does not at all compensate the impact I had in terms of milestone benefits and the RPs of diners black and the extra charge I paid to the dealer. So I requested the bank to file the chargeback. The bank however is asking me whether you want to file charge back for the entire amount or just the extra charges?

Can you please suggest what should I tell the bank. Also the any other place I can take this issue to before filing a chargeback?

If you have taken the vehicle, do not do full chargeback unless you have another receipt to show the full payment made to the dealer via another way.

Do a full chargeback and mentioned that you never got the fuel. Let the dealer reply that he sold car. This way at least phonepe will know that machine was misused.
But you should stick to the fuel purchase only. Without any proof of fuel being delivered, I think there is high chance that charge back will be successful.

Bhai, go for a full chargeback. Let the dealer suffer. Also as someone mentioned earlier, file a complaint with Hundai higher authorities as well.

I think if you put full charge back, the dealer may retaliate and will get a tussle. What you want is to get the refund of extra that you paid atleast, plus the worth of rewards point. So may be put chargeback only for such amount. In this case the dealer may even not notice that this amount was not realised, and you may be happier.

But this transaction got categorised under the mcc of wallet load and I was charged with 1% surcharge. I tried to dispute with Axis bank but they declined. Tried reaching out to the phonepe support, but their guys are clueless about mcc. Can u guide me how can I proceed to get this surcharge reversed ? I don't know whom to contact now.

Nothing can be done. Accept your mistake and next time before making big transaction, do a test transaction of small amount and confirm the MCC with customer care.

Checking mcc is not fool proof online. Same website can easily switch between different terminal id (that can be associated with different acquirer bank or different mid with same acquirer) resulting in different mcc code for different transactions.

You are right. Thats why we need to double check by merchant name which will always be different for transactions having different MCC.
