TF Buzz
As I hold normal 10000 AMB savings account in axis bank, they put charges on my account 750 and 135 gst without any reason,I asked for reversal they reversed only 750 , wat to do in this situation, how to claim remaining amount 135 it is gst amount. They said gst cannot be reversal.

It's a problem with almost every bank , that I've faced in the past , the charges are reversed but the gst is not.

I checked with branch manager, he also agree this charges applied wrongly as cash transaction at branch, as I am not done any cash transaction. But manager now telling that they can only revers 750 wat charges applied not GST.

GST can’t be reversed leave it
Just use their card with planning to cover the amount in terms of rewards

You cannot charge GST if base amount is reversed. Had a similar case with American Express as well when I accidentally converted a transaction into EMI. They removed these charges without any arguments or further questions.

This is how you can GST reversal, I got mine even after raising a complaint to the bank after 2 years.
A twitter thread to Get GST reversal

GST is applied on the charges, if there are no charges or the charges are waived, what is the GST charged on? Haven't had to get charges waived off on any other bank, but every year when they waive my annual fees on AMEX, they also waive the GST that is charged with it.

I am not sure, but if I remember correctly, when a friend of mine cancelled his train ticket, he also got back GST component with his refund. So I think legally GST cannot be charged if there is no corresponding service. It is as simple as, whatever we buy today has a GST component charged to us. When we return those goods, refund is including the GST amount. So logically no way that GST can be charged.

True, this practice should not be carried by banks, I hate it when they do not refund the GST part and that is why I pressed for reversal even after 2 years this is completely unfair.

Even supposing the bank had already deposited the GST on the fee charged, at the end of the year there would be reconciliation, so the total GST deposited must correspond to the total service charges.

So, if a portion of the service charges was refunded, the corresponding GST is not due. If the Bank is not refunding that, they are just pocketing it themselves.

Therefore customers should never accept that GST can't be refunded. It should be demanded back in writing. The Bank must return it.
