HDFC Mariott Bonvoy LTF

Hey everyone. I read a thread few weeks back in which people were not activating their Swiggy card and in turn received call from bank retention team who made it LTF. It's been more than 30 days that I've activated my Mariott card and I received a call today. Upon asking the reason for not activating the card, I told them the fees is too high.

They immediately sent an SMS and told that If I activate my card it'll be LTF. Is this message genuine? I didn't know that HDFC can convert premium cards into LTF as well.

Edit: I initially wanted to pay fees for this card but after looking at all the property offerings from Mariott, I realised 15k points isn't worth paying fees for as most of the good properties charge way higher value in points than in Rupees. So I decided not to activate this card after it was received. But if it gets converted to LTF, it can be good card for domestic and international lounge access and Lounge network of Diners cards is better than Visa, plus no pain of carrying priority pass as well.

Things have changed since December 2023. The nights are credited immediately and fees are charged after 45 days. Official Document link states that. Check it out. SO the fees will be charged in 2nd statement most probably.

But I don't see the night credited.
Where to check it exactly ?

Got a mail from HDFC today that it’s not LTF. What should I do? Should I reach out to RBI for this? For proof I just have that SMS, I don’t know if HDFC will even consider that. This is just scam, these call centre guys say anything to spike up their targets.

The link which you have received earlier in SMS, starts with "Hdfcbank.io" then you should raise it with HDFC and tell them that you might escalate it to RBI because that was a legitimate SMS communication from the bank and they should honor it.

But I also think you first wait for the charges to appear. Meanwhile did they credited all the benefits like 15000 points and 10 night credit. If not then just wait for more time.

The message seemed legit. Points not credited yet as my fees has not been charged. But it does show my status as Silver Elite, not sure if that’s the default status.

Silver status is default because Marriott has issued this status along with the card and it has nothing to do with the renewal fee.

Renewal Fee se bas Free Night aur 10 nights credit milta hai.... jo abhi tak nahi mila aapko. Waise as per Latest HDFC terms, if you have done a single transaction with this card then they will credit the Welcome benefit even before charging the Joining Fees.

Rcvd call today that my card is ltf....told me it will take 90 days to reflect the status in bank records. Saved the number....recorded the call...noted employee name and employee code.

Truecaller also shows that it's verified hdfc assist number with tick.

Let's see what happens....rcvd call on 26th day of card delivery


I confirmd on call that it's unconditional ltf without any spend criteria.

@Hisoka can you also confirm from marriot/hdfc that if we continue to get Marriot Silver Elite status every year since it seems its not part of welcome offer(against fees) and instead as a offering to all card holders. Even the Marriot site says the same..

It will be good idea to have Marriot Elite Status by just keeping an LTF card so that you can status match on many other partners hehe

Which partners give status match with Marriott Silver status? I have Marriott silver but not sure where else to statusmatch

I have HDFC tata neu. After reading posts here, I assume hdfc will not issue marriott card to me, instead they will ask to increase CL by documents.

Am I right or is there any chance to get this card,?

I waited for 30 Days , Got a call from HDFC. I asked if they can make it LTF, they said it can't be done, but they said they added 1500 Amazon coupon if I activate the card and make first transaction! I did the same and no one from HDFC can confirm 1500 Amazon coupon

they raised a service request today closure date is 30th Jan. i will contact via email after that. even if they deny i will happily take the complimentary night and then fight off another day via nodal officer.

Also, try to get the written email from them.

No, only Hdfc tata neu card only. I have requested them to increase CL by submitting ITR through email. If they don't increase, I will anyway close card. And after cooldown I will apply core card first followed by marriott.

Update. It’s officially LTF now

Thanks to RBI again, I submitted the proofs after fighting with HDFC bank for a week. Received the response from bank after another 10 days.

You need to do a transaction, If not done. I heard people are getting the benefit after transaction occuring.
