My Experience
Since I have an international trip planned next month to Japan I tried to apply HDFC ForexPlus Card (multicurrency card) and load some 2,00,000 Yen to the card to compare the actual reward rate. While Google is showing the exchange rate of 2L Yen equal to 112150 INR, HDFC is charging me some 1,16,695 INR including loading charges of around 195. It equates to a direct loss of approximately 4.01% since HDFC has higher Forex rates. But with a 16.66% (5X) reward rate on my Diners Club Black credit card, this deal is too good since it would leave me a net reward rate of 12.65% which handsomely beats even the reward rates of Axis Olympus and Axis Reserve. This is a good offer especially if you hold Diners Black or above credit cards.

Loading in USD is proving to be much cheaper since only approximately 2% charge is being applied so if you want to get a card then go for Regalia Plus Forex card since although it can be loaded only in USD but can be used to pay in any currency worldwide since it has zero cross currency markup charges.

The way usd is rising, I think that 2% markup will get nullified by the time card is activated 😂.

I got net at 88.72 and usd has already reached 87.45.

They still make you apply for the card from the website itself, once you generate the reference number from the website, they can immediately give you the card. It seems multi-currency card is the only one which is available in branch usually and therefore you should opt for Regalia forex only if you have ample time.
In my case, the passport expiry issue which I have always got when applying for the card, the same error showed up on the branch personnel's laptop. Then I wasted my one hour at the branch as part of which for the first time I ever met any of my RMs ever, he tried to find a way for me to apply the card offline and things didn't work.

So I guess I have to just leave this offer.

My RM asked that the client (me) is at the branch and need the card immediately. They said they can give the card by applying offline and then the circle of call this guy and call that guy started. I didn't get the card.

Also, the latest I am seeing on website is they have removed the home delivery option for fresh applications and you have to collect from the branch only now. Did they finally start getting too many applications?

Yes, you are right. In that case, I'll wait few more days and apply. I am traveling in April. Wanted to load 112500 x 2 times for maximum benefit.

Okay so my transaction got settled for 1.12L and no 1x points. Called the customer care they reviewed the offer n transaction again to confirm that the entire 5x points will come by 5th of next calendar month.

Rechecking on T&C it also says the same. So perhaps will wait till 5th march to reflect all the 5x points .

Bhavye contacted HDFC Bank for clarification regarding the Forex Card Load offer.
His questions were:

1. Is the 15,000 Bonus Reward Points quota separate from the 10,000 SmartBuy Bonus Reward Points?
2. Also, is the offer applicable to all ForexPlus cards, especially the Regalia ForexPlus Card?

Their response literally made me ROFL, but the harsh reality is that this is the level of customer service we receive from the so-called number one private sector bank in India.
