Introduction

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is set to launch RuPay credit cards with all major banks in the coming years. RuPay currently offers three main credit card variants:
  1. RuPay Classic (Basic/Standard)
  2. RuPay Platinum (Premium) // includes SwiggyOne, Spa, Gift Cards, and more.
  3. RuPay Select (Super Premium)
There are also two sub-types under RuPay Select:
  1. RuPay Select
  2. RuPay Select Wellness (includes Gym, Spa, Golf programs, and more).
Key Features of RuPay Credit Cards
  • International Acceptance: Supported by Discover Financial Services, Diners Club International, Pulse, and JCB.
  • Free Benefits: Lounge access, wellness perks, and e-commerce offers.
  • Bank Offers: RuPay cards are eligible for the same offers as Visa/Mastercard (e.g., 10% discounts on Amazon, Flipkart).
  • No Discrimination Between Networks: If your Visa/Mastercard is lifetime free, the RuPay equivalent will also be lifetime free.

How to Switch from Visa/Mastercard to RuPay​

Each bank offers straightforward processes to switch to RuPay:

Final Notes​

  1. RuPay cards are on par with Visa/Mastercard in terms of offers and features.
  2. Newly launched RuPay cards might not immediately qualify for e-commerce offers—contact the bank for updates (Everything starts working perfectly after a few months).
  3. RuPay's partnerships ensure seamless international acceptance.

My Rupay JCB Platinum debit card from Union bank not supported in Amazon pay wallet load. On friday I got ₹100 instant discount when loading ₹500. But after 2 days, the transaction got reversed and order cancelled.

NB: Amazon is reading Rupay JCB Platinum Debit Card as Credit card. Strange.

Also Loungekey Registration is not supported for this card as well.

Altogether it was a waste of time I spend to get especially the Rupay JCB Debit card from Union Bank of India. Those who are trying to take this variant for above mentioned benefits, do keep this in mind.

From last few fridays, some users facing this problem with all cards.

Money loaded in Amazonpay wallet and then transaction cancelled and got refund after few days.

Try again next friday. It will work.

I already mentioned Rupay JCB Platinum debit card from Union bank is not supported in loungekey.
 
@Abhishek012 so I applied for Bob Premier variant, even though I was getting eterna , since I wanted one card on Rupay network.

How do I ensure that they send me the Rupay select card ? I tried emailing but their mailbox is full.

Also, when I applied online , it was showing lifetime free but on the application form that I submitted digitally , it has spend based fee waiver conditions mentioned. Is that the standard ?

  1. The downloadable application form is quite old. So, you will see charges on it. But, the card is LTF, which you can confirm, since it was mentioned in the online application
  2. You call call customer care to ask if the card is RuPay. Even then, after you receive the card, if the card is VISA/Mastercard, write a mail to conversions@bobfinancial.com and ask them to issue a RuPay variant.

@Abhishek012 Thanks a lot for the info brother, I have been through this URL a lot of times and there is no way to apply for these cards using this link, could you please share the contact details/ email of the agent who helped you in getting this card? I tried contacting the local branch of LIC for these cards but they are offering LIC Axis cards and not the IDBI cards. I tried reaching out the IDBI customer care but they are not providing any information on these cards and asking me to reach LIC for this. LIC on the other hand is pushing for Axis LIC co branded cards.
