Amex Platinum Travel - Milestone benefit - Insurance Payment

MJN

TF Premier
Hello all

I have my amex platinum travel renewal by 07/11/24 and I had spent around 3.2 lakhs against 4 L milestone benefit;

My bill date is 4th of Every month

I have to pay a term insurance payment of 50k by 04/11/24 ( Thinking to do with Amazon pay balance - Need to buy Amazon GC in Reward Multiplier)

Can you guide me how to achieve my 4L spent ?

Can I directly pay via amex cc in Amazon pay if I could not get apay voucher for 50k in a single month? Will I get any additional charges?

If I am able to spent 50k for the insurance payment,I somehow will spent the balance 30k..

What's the best way to do ? pls suggest

Solution
Ok.. I can't pay my insurance payment partially.. I need to pay 50k at one go using Amazon pay balance.. If I am not able to buy 50k voucher in next 20 days using amex.. What will be the best option for completing the milestone?
I think Amazon pay wallet will not allow partially wallet amount + credit card for insurance payment..

Can anyone confirm?
Try this combo:

1) Buy APay GV of 20K ( 2*10K) in Amzon using Plat Travel.
2) Buy 5K GV in Park+ each time.. give one or two days gap and try again..Not sure how much is the total limit within a month thouugh.. may be syou should be able to buy at least 20K, just a guess..
3) Buy in Reward mulitplier of 10K in 250 denominations..

we can find other alternatives for small amount ...
Hi All,
I need to make a payment worth 102000 for ICICI Pru Insurance payment. I am trying to pay it via Amex Platinum Travel Card to reach milestone benefits. I tried Apay, Cred, ICICI pru portal but everwhere it is adding a convenience fee of 1-1.5%.
Can anyone suggest a portal where no convenience fee is levied and Amex is accepted?

On 4L spends, platinum travel gives around 5.43% returns. If we take any convenience fee from those apps/platforms then it will be still around 4%. Don't know any credit card provides 4% on Insurance payment.

People in this forum talk about net return (after factoring convenience fee etc.) only, there is no way to avoid such charges with credit card but these cards especially amex with milestone, we're still in + zone with rewards.

For info about returns:

Try directly via ICICI insurance portal, I have just paid 1.2L HDFC life policy premium via HDFC life portal after looking at the convenience charges in all 3rd party apps

2 options.

1. Directly at the insurance website.
2. If you are getting option on amazon pay for your insurance policy then buy Amazon pay voucher from Amazon and then add it to your wallet and pay by wallet.

Hi, I paid 30k insurance of Tata AIA insurance from Amex Plat travel and it was showing just 1.18% extra charges. But later i got a message from Amex that they are going to chare 5% extra. This doesn't make sense. Is anyone aware of this.

- amex doesn't have surcharge option yet (unlike some banks who do charge later based on transaction mcc like education, rent, wallet etc.)

So, based on this.. whatever u get final billing amount that is final. Are you sure u got message from amex? Could you post it here?

I spoke with customer care and they also said its not Amex is charging, its the vendor i.e. Tata AIA. But my question is if insurance companies are charging 5% over and above the premium, does it make sense to pay with American express credit card. Or if we can get a list of insurers what % they are charging if it varies with vendor. I have 1.5 lakh insurance payment and that's the reason i took Amex plat travel but if i have to pay 5% extra, it is not making sense and i should surrender the card.

no one ever charged in online 5% extra, even wallet loads upto 3% only. double check the actual value. Again, if its TataAIA then it should be while paying payment not after its not fuel. Re-confirm once.

Also if anyone can help me with the extra charges if i pay NPS, tax and education fees online from Amex Platinum travel card.
