He guys I got an upgrade offer for a Platinum charge card, I am requesting your help or suggestions what to do in the 2025 case as per the new pdf.

I need your help in deciding what to do.

I have been bugging them for the upgrade for a month - May be they got tired of me hounding them 😬

My view is that it could be worth it. Points can be transferred to Mariott, Amazon Pay vouchers can be purchased for 5X, Unlimited golf etc

have about 5L limit currently, spend below the required criteria of your plat travel, if says 1.50 spend in a year, you are supposed to spend evenly in a year and ensure and pay the full spend after bill generation in a week of time or next day or on bill generation date. and that's it. if you spend in amex on normal shopping kind more than 70,000inr in a 6 months you will get plat charge upgrade offer next year to ensure you spend by December end about 70k plus and on jan you will get upgrade offer.

(mine spending is like this above, and amex watches your spending and on what you spend and bill pay speed, ensure your spending is mostly on reward receiving mcc rather than exclusion mcc list)

I got my Amex platinum travel card in Sept 2024 and have spent around 79k till now including 55k in current billing cycle.

6 months have to pass and also equal distribution of your spend on monthly bases of 70k to be split that means approx 15k per month to be spent

Got the offer on platinum travel for upgrade for 150k MR points.

Amazon on gyftr seems to be a challenge now esp with convenience fees.

I think if one is going to travel somewhere and use MR points for hotel stays the card upgrade makes sense.

I have gold card
Spend only 1kx6 in last ten months and I got upgrade offer to platinum
Was getting offer from two months to upgrade to platinum travel with 2k amazon voucher was thinking to go for it or not.
And this month got offer for platinum

1. Do we need to surrender the platinum travel card upon upgrade ? I am close to reaching 4L milestone and would get 25K points+ 10K Taj Vouchers which I dont want to miss.
2. If i opt to upgrade, can i still keep my platinum travel card ? Will my existing points be impacted or will they be clubbed with 100k points which I will receive on upgrade. Are points tied to account or card ?
3. Can i upgrade to Platinum now and close it before renewal ? Will the points still stay in my account considering i continue with platinum travel card?

They are targetting Platinum Travel card holders, not those who have already closed Platinum Charge card
